on his show today, he said that he believes that curry is not taking the dna test b/c pax will give him an even lower offer and that he'll either be a knick via a sign and trade or sign the QO and sign with the knicks as an unrestricted free agent after the season.

like i said before, if anybody other than malik or mo are included in a deal for curry, then isiah needs to have his head examined.

otherwise let his boy jamal get in his ear and think about him for the MLE next year IF IF IF he shows he can play an entire season.

Good news if he is a Knick before the season starts. I wanna know about his heart (literally).

Buy low and sell high. If he has a good season, its going to cost us.

If he "tire's" easily and is a walking time bomb, MLE would be overpaying!

Im not sure, but I agree we don't pay much on him, and hive him a structured contract that is full of incentives and SOME guaranteed money for his new wife.

We need to figure out a way of locking up Ariza before the season ends..
If we don't.. we aqre forced to use the MLE on him.
No WAYYYYY I would give up on Ariza to sign Curry (Unless he has a monster season, Which would land him on a different team with Cap space to offer a lengthy and lucrative contract).

If we do somehow lock up Ariza... I'm all for the MLE on Curry.

I don't think SAS would make a statement like that if he didn't have some type of knowledge on whats going on. He wants to maintain his Credibility......still he said "he believes" not that it was actually gonna go down.

We just gotta wait and see.

Seriously, I don't want to see him die like Hank Gathers and Reggie Lewis.

Caseloads: What can you tell us about Eddy Curry's heart? Is it possible for him to die playing basketbal?

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

The thing is they do not know whether or not his heart is enlarged from excessive exercise or if it's dilating out due to a genetic condition. With any arrythmia, you can "cardio-convert" and go from "skipping a heart beat" to serious prolonged abnormal heartbeats and also the heart just stop beating "flatline". Anyway, these things can be regulated with medications, but people really need to be cleared by undergoing cardiac stress tests to see how your heart's electrical activity that enables the heart to beat responds to stress of exercise. One thing that I would be VERY afraid of is that if Curry gets knocked in the chest at all - with a basketball, a punch, or by banging in the post, his heart beat could become irregular and he could go into a very serious arrythmia and not get blood perfused to vital organs such as his brain (stroke), heart (MI/heart attack), lungs, etc.

If anyone cared about Curry, they would tell him stop playing basketball because one wrong hit to his chest could interrupt the electrical activity of his heart that allows for his heart to beat regularly. I would stay away from Curry unless we do not mind that he was playing with the risk of stroking out or having a heart attack at any given moment that he is a Knick.

With all this being said, I'd roll the dice on him.

I do not know what his condition is exactly, and all of what I said is off the top of my head. Furthermore, of course, I have no access to any of his medical files or anything. I dont know what initial arrythmia he presented with and why he even had an EKG to begin with. Maybe he was getting heart palpitations. Maybe he felt pain in his left arm (small heart attack), maybe he passed out/ small stroke (TIA = Transient Ischemic Attack). Also, it would be prudent to compare the current EKGs with prior EKGs, if any, to see if this has been a persistent condition or a newly developed condition.

Case, would a defibrillator save his life if he had an attack on the court?

depends. you can only use a defibrillator if the patient is NOT flatlined - you have to have electricity flowing through the heart in order to jump start it. flat line = no electrical energy in the heart = game over like little flip.

so every time in the movies and tv when they defib a flatliner, it's complete BS. For flatlining you can give C BIG K. Calcium, Insulin, Glucose, Kayexalate, Bicarbonate. I think epinephrine also might jumpstart a heart. Also a sharp hard punch to the chest might jumpstart the heart in the case of a flatline. but in general, flatlining is real bad.

defib is useful if he goes into a non-fatal arrhythmia briefly and you can shock/jolt the heart back into a regular rhythm.

Caseloads, thank you for that answer, it was very informative.

I don't want Curry. Seeing something like that would break my heart (No pun intended.). I hope he does an Evander Holyfield and plays well for someone else for a long time.

I watched a lot of Hank Gathers the year he died and I was watching the game where Reggie lewis first passed out. A kid with a heart condition died on my best friend's high-school basketball team. Another person died on a team his college squad was playing. The risk is real for people with these conditions. If there is any chance Curry could be killed from a blow to the chest etc. I wish they would tell him so (Not like Reggie's paid specialists did.) and he would retire.

You've given me a lot to think about too. I myself have been diagnosed with an irregular heart beat before, about 10 years ago, but the doctor attributed it to stress and bad habits and cleared me to play sports, which I did. I have been out with a knee injury for 4 years now. I still ride my bike all over, but I think I will give the doctor a visit when I start playing ball again. (Not if, when.)

Thanks again Caseloads.

what did you do to your knee? 4 years?

I have had bad knees in general mainly from playing on NYC concrete my whole life.

I tore my left knee for real on my birthday 4 years ago. I didn't get surgery for 8 months because I was uninsured. I did not stop playing basketball.

My first left-knee operation I expected to be a normal arthroscopy (about 6 weeks to near normal.) But I came off the table with a microfracture (Which I had never heard of at that point.)

A year later I had both knees done. My right knee came back amazingly is now better than it was 15 years ago. The doctor told me I had further degeneration in my left knee. He told me I had no more options really except for a "Lateral release" Which actually changes the alignment of your knee.

I rehabbed the last 2 years but my knee got worse and worse. (This is what is happening to Allan Houston most likely.) I just had another surgery on my left knee with a different doctor. He told me that my lateral meniscus (The outside of your knee.) is basically gone, bone on bone, arthritis, the whole 9.

I am now left with facing a knee replacement at way too young an age. Now I do all my own research before I ever see a doctor by the way. I found out that there is such a thing now as a meniscus transplant. That is what I am having done on October 14th. November 1st will mark the 4 year anniversary of my injury.
What kind of ball are you trying to get back to playing?

I want to be able to play hard and for real. I can't really play any other way(I love intensity!). But the truth is, I am more concerned about walking and other normal activities than playing ball.
