I was thinking about our SF position and how it could be a potential poblem spot and I just dont get why they didnt take Gomes who has so many greta skills, who is a superior player IMHO to Lee in almost every facet of the game--I mean we have Mark Aquire--did he get his .02 on Gomes? Gomes --to me is the Carlos Boozer of this draft--we had a chance and bypassed --Gomes was a one man gang who played under double and triple teams every night--what did we not see in him? I have seen Gomes a lot more than Le, but to me Lee was always a complimentary player and Gomes was not only the man, but gave players of the highest skill level problems. He has size, he has incredible touch long arms, can rebound--we will find out how many teams missed the boat and they did miss it.

Gomes had some injury that scared teams off. Supposedly Lee has awesome hops and great team player.

lee is a better rebounder, better athlete, runs the floor better, passes better, suited for the running game, was more than a complimentary player at florida, on a team that ran like crazy, if that is what IT is trying to accomplish, a uptempo style, then lee was the better fit..

Lee has more size too. Lee is a PF, gomes was a PF in college but is a 3-man in the NBA

yea, plus I like lee's versatility and the fact that he is 6'10 doesn't hurt as you mentioned...

I like the Lee pickup. He seems like a gritty type than should compliment our bench. I see him getting decent minutes this year.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

i think this is a discussion we should be having a few months or maybe a year from now.

there's many players drafted with different skillsets but yet to see it translated at the nba level - from a top 5 pick, to a mid round pick, to a 25-30 pick, to a second round pick. who knows how good these guys really are?

we could go by scouting reports out the wazoo but once we see them on the court - we won't know what's up.

lee was VERY impressive in summer league...as was gomes.

let's see which one becomes better over the next few years but at this point, i can't see how we can say we should've picked gomes ahead of him.

i remember last year, we were all talking about players like sato. well - so far, nothing. that doesn't mean he's a bust but we just don't know how it will all translate.

hey, for all we know, nate could be a better player than martell webster.
or taft could be better than lee or frye.

skillsets are there with everybody. time will reveal all.

actually i wanted nate robinson at 30--i would have never guesed Gomes falling, I had him going 18-at the very least, you wouldve thought he was a high balue pick from 23-28, falling to 50 i certainly cant believe it

IMHO, Ryan Gomes will be the best player of round 2, so there is my 1 in 30 dart.

By the way Lee is nOT a better rebounder than Gomes and he is 1 inch taller 6-7 3/4 to 6-6 3/4 but Gomes has a 7-2 wingspan compared to 7-0 from lee and outweighs lee by a good 15 pounds.

David Lee did not develop a jumper in college in fact he didnt make one 3 pt shot his entire career. Gomes went to work with a well-developed free throw shot and moved it back to the three ptline and shot nearly 40%. The whole thing is Lee===PF Gomes=SF

I'm with BRIGGS on this one. And Q is not a SF, he is a SG.

What about Q makes him not qualified to play SF?

Dont sell Lee or his versatility and ability to learn different things short. They expected nothing from him in the SL as they knew they were playing him out of position at the 3 and they said they were blown away as he was able to defend smaller players and his passing skills were very advanced. Gomes is a guy that used hos muscle very well at the CBB level but thats going to be tough to do in the NBA. Gomes looks like a Malik Rose type at this level.

Also Lee I think Lee did everything he could to earn his way into round 1, but he's an elite athlete

From what I have seen so far in the summer leagues, I beleive Zeke made a good pick at 30.
I still say we fckd up drafting Lee over Gomes
