All Allan Houston had was a smooth jumper. What else did he really do? All his job was to jump shoot. That was his one dimension. I used the past tense because with that arthritiic knees, in addition to age, that jumper will never be the same.
Players like Oak (and Starks) may not have had the Allan jumpshot, but that hustle won us alot of games. While he wasn't the most talented, no one could say that he ever gave less than 110% night in, night out. Opposing teams had to cover these players in different areas. If someone shuts down Allan's jumper, he wouldn't give you anything else.
Other players (like Spree, Nalod

) were versatile enough to make contributions in other ways to help us win. Oak and Starks did the same.
Put Allan's number in the rafters when he expands his game, but at this stage, I seriously doubt that'll happen.
Better yet, like Nalod said, hang the number 100 up for his contract.

Lastly, if the # of years played counts, didn't Oak play here 9 years?
...and what about this?
"Closed the 1997-98 season ranked 2nd in Knicks' franchise history in steals (844), 3rd in rebounds (7,291) and minutes (23,959) and 6th in games (727)"

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year.
GO KNICKS!
