who's your favorite knick coach since 1984? who's the best?

hubie brown
bob hill
rick pitino
stu jackson
john mcleod
pat riley
don nelson
jeff van gundy
don chaney
herb williams
lenny wilkens

my favorite: rick pitino but his legacy was two seasons.
the best: pat riley as he turned the entire franchise around for an entire decade - even AFTER he left.

Just curious.. when did Phil Jackson coach the knicks?

My favorite is definately Pitino, with a very close Van Gundy as second. I love the way the guy coaches, I love the defensive traps and the outside/inside rotation of his offense. Last but not least, they both showed a ton of fire and showed their emotion while out there on the court at all times, gotta love it.

My fav had to be JVG. I liked Pat Riely but he bounced and I hated him after that.

... Larry Brown. If i'm the first one on that bandwagon, so be it.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

That is 'classic Hardcore'. After game 1, win or lose, I am gonna be on that bandwagon right next to you.

Hubie Brown has to be my favorite. I don't remember him much.....but he was like a dude off the street coaching in a summer league somewhere in Brooklyn. He's one of my all-time favorite personalities. Great knowledge of the game.

Thats alright DJ. I just read it real quick and thought I had missed something and thought the Knicks maybe hired him as an interim for a few games and let him go... thank god thats not the case haha.

Riley, no question...he brought legitimacy to this franchise & changed the whole mentality...it's a shame how he left leaving a bad taste in Knicks fans' mouths, but he was definitely the best coach we've had since I've been following this team.

JVG without question. Riley messed it up for two reasons 1, he cost us the championship in 94 by not playing Ro Blackmon. 2) He left in a messed up way.

JVG since I don't have a very good recollection of the Riley era and JVG owned Riley when coaching against him

Pitino. They were exciting with him.

Riles I despised as a human and he had a coaching Achilles heal of not wanting to adjust during a game.

JVG had heart but his offensive plan did not exist.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Ro Blackman had back spasms that ruined his 92-93 season. He ended up not playing again after the season. What couldve been if he hadn't gone down.

Id say JVG by far. People like to say he's uncreative, but he always got alot out of what he had. Sadly James Dolan and Scott Layden year after year kept giving him less and less. And I'll never forget him clutching and swinging from Alonzo's leg in the Miami brawl.
