So NJ isn't all that much better than us....

Good to know.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

That honor will continue to go to Jason Giambi. Jaret Wrigiht is up there too, but I give him a pass for his recent 2 game comeback.

He's an OK pick up, but not a difference maker. The Nets are no better tthan we are. They have the Big 3 and we have more depth and quality throughout the lineup. Then there's the LB factor. Over the years the one thing that really separated us from a lot of teams was the defense. If LB can fix that, we'll be very good, cuz tho people complain about it, the offense really hasn't been the biggest problem. With a better defense you will get more easy scoring opportunities and that will help the O a lot too.

^ Dude are you kiddin me?

They had Ben freakin Wallace. Sheed. Those 2 came in KNOWING how to play some serious ****in D.

Larry can hopefully make us an average defensive team. Atleast I hope so...

defense will notbe an issue wit larry i can see larry benching whoever shows no effort on D at all. Remember if a lineup of nate robinson, jamal crawford, trevor, maurice taylor and jerome james plays Defense..larry will play them alot of minutes

Defense is paramount to him

it's a good signing for them--they lost face with rahim and came back with Jackson and Traylor--thats a LOT of beef they really didnt have last year.

Now they have

Kristic 7-0 240
Traylor 6-8 285
Jackson 6-10 260
Collins 7-0 260
Robinson 6-10 235

certainly no stars, but a solid scoring 4 in Jackson who plays hard and an up and coming 7 footer in Kristic a skill player in Robinson and two bangers in Collins and Traylor.

this team is much more built like the Bulls where their superstars are on the wings--jefferson and Carter, but this team still has a great great player in Kidd running the show.

If I was NJ, I have two picks in my pocket and I would be looking at the trade dead line to do something this year, if I could. They were smart to let Rahim go if they truly felt he couldve been an injury disaster because the NBA market is fluid, heck Rahim could end up on the NETS at the trade deadline for all we know right? hes only signed for a year.

I still like our front line much much batter with Frye being the x factor, but I see frye equal to Kristic and JJ Collins.

Frye 6-11 248
Rose 6-7 245
Butler 6-10 250
JJ 7-1 280
Sweets 6-8 270

And ofcourse, Tiny Tim
6-10 240

I didn't even list MoT 6-9 255 and Lee 6-9 249

in the back court, I still believe Marbs and Kidd are a wash (and if kidd's knees are even a question, marbs gets the nod).

I'm taking RJ over Q (ofcourse) and Vinsanity over Craw (ofcourse), but after that it's all knicks, all the time:
Ariza (much improved), Nate (energy and defense off the bench).

It's close though, very close. but, me being a homer, the nod goes to the knicks.
all kool aid all the time.

I know 10/5/.84 is huge in some parts, but I'm not so sure that cuts it in the garden.

Kurt put up 11/10/.99 and was 3 inches shorter.

I'd take
rose's 7/4.5 in 7 less minutes a game. Or
Sweets 8/5 in 7 less minutes a game.
JJ's 5/3/1.4 in 10 less minutes a game.

Awesome post, Briggs, for once I fully agree with you, not that you care either way. But in all seriousness, your perfectly right, the Nets right now are sitting pretty with those draft picks and those 3 guys in the backcourt. The frontcourt is more then solid AND they have Kristic who might just fully break out this year. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Rod Thorn is THE best executive in the NBA, hands down.

Actually with Krstic. I think he avg'ed something like 13.5 and 7 when he got playing time. The 10/5 is misleading cause first 25-30 games he only avg'ed like 6-10 mins a game and that hurt his overall numbers.

Tractor Traylor could have been like Sweetney. Lets hope Sweetney doesn't end up like him.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Krstic looks like he has the makings of a future All-star in the current NBA climate as far as centers are concerned... they don't make 'em the way they used to about 10-15 years ago.

He has good all-around offensive skills and is fairly athletic as far as 7'ers go.

While we're at it... I think our boy Channing Frye has future AS potential as well-- excellent offensive skills... it's a matter of him getting the opportunity to showcase them on a regular basis.
