I could see that... gambling big and young is always a worthy bet. I would have liked to sign him for the LLE but thus is life. He was so bad in Cle its hard to really care.

young and big and talented is always a worthy bet - why not sign here for 1.7 mil? (although all we could give him is a 2 year LLE deal and Dallas gave him a multi-year deal starting at 1.9 mil) wow... he actually had some good games in CLE. plus everyone knows that unless you are a superstud big man, you take a few years to develop, especially just coming straight out of HS. Imagine if he was a 4 year college player coming in this year. He would have definitely destroyed Bogut in the NCAAs. Bogut is 6-10 compared to a true 7foot center... no comparison. Diop can really block shots too. Oh well.

Gee, I guess since he is going to Dallas he must have been worth it!

And if his new coach is saying good things about him, that must really make his rising star more valid.

Being a lottery pick too is like us having a lottery pick!

Horse****! He is a bust!

If you want to validate Dallas picking him up, why not point to the fact they got damp for like 70mil and he sucks! Why Isiah was willng to sign that sack of sheet was beyond me. James is perhaps 75% of Damp for half the cost!

Phuch Diop, he is crap! Maybe I am eating crow in two years, but this kid had all the opportunity in CLE and he can't get it done. Perhaps a season or two with Uncle "AGWIRE" spreading his magic dust on him might bring him into focus a bit!

There are seasons ahead, drafts ahead, expiring contracts, trades all to make this team over in the next few years. Be patient, it all does not have to happen right now. WE don't need anymore long term contracts.

Go with this team. Its flawed we know, but its less now than last year! I don't think we make the playoffs, thats my gut feeling, and I hope we go with youth.

Im ok, I will get my tickets to see them, and my seasons pass! Im buying and supporting a youth movement! Chock it full of Starphuched hasbeens and I am gone!

I believe Larry when he says we gonna suck until the latter part of the season. THis is a necessary learning curve that we must experience for the team to ever develope.

Enought witht he envy of every player movement on 29 other teams that we should have gotten in on!

Nalod, I agree. It's always greener on the other side. When Zeke talks up our signings people are like whoa this guys sucks. When another team talks up their recent signing people claim Zeke missed the boat. Fickle, fickle, fickle.

My question is what does that say about their other project center Pavel Podkolzin 7'5" 280lbs?

I don't wanna hear about Isiah messing up on Diop if he blows up. Diop made the decision to go to Dallas.......conversation over.

Agreed. I also agree with nalod and NYBocker for the most part.

Because Isiah didn't pass him up. He prolly got a longer deal than the Knicks were willing to give him. Dallas isn't the best decisionmaker on FA signings, look at that Dampier deal LOL.

I doubt anyone would be silly enough to Put that on Isiah and some kind of ass-backwards blame. Then again, don't put anything past a hater.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Diop's a scrub...we didn't miss out on anything...we saved $1.7 million a year by not signing him...i say go after Dale Davis to be a short term stopgap if we need some frontcourt help.

makes no sense to get someone like DD, we'd be better off staying put.

that's fine w/me...i'm just saying IF we need help in the frontcourt, a short term stopgap like DD would be a perfectly acceptable option to me...at least i know he can play.

Dallas gave him the LLE... same thing we would have offered. I somehow doubt ANY player would get a longer/bigger deal than what the Knicks would offer. Thats the truth. Can I get an amen?

dallas split the MLE with Christie 3 mil and Diop 1.9 mil. We could only offer 1.7 mil

I dont get it - people on this board would like to have an entire front court full of "projects" - how many of those actually pan out? And then on top of that to have basically an entire frontcourt full of them...you build a team with solid skilled players at their positions - you can gamble here and there but to fill your roster with ? marks is a mistake.

Now I will post my prediction and you can hold me to it - Diop will continue to suck. Good for him if he blossoms in the Dallas system but I dont see it happening. What has he shown so far to make people so high on him?
