Neither. If anybody, it should be Shandon since he's gone anyway.

Malik is a good defender as well and has a better offensive game.

The only thing is, we can't play all of our PF's and we have TT and Ariza getting minutes at SF with Q...somebody would have to sit anyway. I'm kind of surprised it's not Mo T.

I like JYD much better, hes bigger, stronger, and plays more aggressively.

But Malik is younger and has a better jumpshot.

Malik has the extra year, but you dont save any more money by dumping one of them over Shandon, and both are usefull players. Its not like Travis Knight vs. Howard Eisley here....

JYD is one of our best perimeter defenders- can guard the likes of KG, and can be effective in limited mins.

to me it comes down to roster space.
do we need a spot for diop/lee/butler?
i would rather cut a player on the roster to free up the spot to get one of those young guys in.

I can't believe people like Rose over JYD. I think even with Roses better jumper JYD brings way more to the game than Rose. His defense, size, and athleticism are greater than Roses by alot imo.

i think jyd might be redundant with lee. we need an interior defender like Rose who can guard centers IMO. i think lee can pretty much do what JYD did - hustle, play defense, and play with heart. Rose also has more championship experiencve.

I'm on record for not supporting that contract for Jerome James, and I doubt he can change his ways and stay out of foul trouble. that's why I think Malik is more valuable. I agree with you though, just cut shandon or Mo T. I really can't fathom why JYD would be cut over Shandon.

i've noticed alot more people on record as being opposed to the contract he signed now that you see how many other bigmen are signing for less than there were the day the signing was first announced when i & maybe 1 or 2 others were criticized for "crying & whining" about it on the forums according to some of you...can you guys see now how unwise an investment it was to sign a guy like JJ to a full MLE when you see guys who've been 20 & 8 players in the past signing comparable type contracts? we still have Shandon Anderson's crap contract on the books & he's not even playing on this team...how many of these unwise investments are needed before some of you realize that at some point, you have to take fiscal responsibility into account...just because it's a MLE contract doesn't mean it doesn't effect our salary cap.

I hope so because I'm not happy at all about losing JYD. I will never forget the job he did on Dirk completely shutting him down Dirk was so frustrated that game

maybe they think the 3yrs left on JYD's contract will come off the cap whereas Shandon is on the cap only this year
