Starting unit?

James 7-1 275 23 min 7 pts 5 reb 1.7 blocks
Sweetney 6-8 260 30 minutes 14 points 9 rebounds 1 block
TT 6-10 240 10 pts 3.5 reb 22 min
SM 6-2 200 17 pts 7 assits 34 min
JC 13 points 7 assits 34 min
Frye 13 pts 7 reb 1.4 block 27 min
Taylor 7 points 4 reb 16 min
Ariza 23min 7 points 5 reb 3 assits 2 steals
Q 10 points 4 reb 20 min
Nate 9 points 4 assists 20 min

--------tot

101 pts per game--may not happen because of the larry brown style, but i feel we are catered to score points, much more so than defensively--thats where the brown coaching style--to what our roster make up is might be problematic. we dont really have good defensive players rather--i think with nate and Crawford at 1 Steph and Q at 2 we can score points and move up and down. i think scoring is the way we win this year--if we try to start being something we are not--right now, then it could get lumpy----if we play to our strength and play reasonable D we will win 42-45 games. if we put so much emphasis on slowing down possessions, making sure the D is perfect, we wont be playing towards our roster make up.

Q is only getting 20 minutes? That is not happening, he will play for 30 or Isiah will flip out. Craw is the odd man out. Period.

Q is much better than craw, and will not drive larry crazy. Nate is going to take any extra point minutes. Hve you seen Q play pre-suns? He's going to be great here.

Talent and being the player that you are are 2 totally different things. As of right now, Q is a MUCH better player then Crawford is, yeah maybe Craw has the ability to do more things in his career but so far I have yet to see them. All I have seen from Craw is the ability to hoist up shots with 20 seconds remaining on the shot clock and be totally irratic. Atleast with Q, I see some sort of consistency and ability to do more then just bomb away.

I think that Q will be able to up his minutes by getting time at the 3.

It is really hard to say what the lineup will be and how many minutes everyone will play.

How many minutes will Ariza play? T.Thomas? Nate Dogg? I do think Crawford will see his minutes cut but not to 20... maybe to 30 minutes a game. I see Nate getting no more than 12 minutes a game in the beginning, the question is who will see more time out of T.Thomas and Ariza.

Once T.Thomas gets traded I can see something like this...

Ariza 24min 9pts 4.5reb
Q 35min 15pts 6reb
Marbury 36min 19pts 7asst
Crawford 32min 14pts 5asst
Nate 16min 5pts 3asst

with:
JJ 26min 9pts 7reb
Frye 20min 8pts 5reb
Sweets 26min 11pts 6.5reb
Taylor/JYD/Lee?24min 7pts 4.5reb

Eventually I see a 9 man rotation.

X-factors: Crawford's shooting percentage, Ariza's development/improvement, JJ's foul control, Sweets development/improvement, Frye???, Lee???.

97 points a game. I can see us going 46-36.

I think the starting position and playing time at the 2 will come down to how the players do in camp. I'm just as interested in who starts at 3. Ariza could unseat TT in training camp if Ariza continues to work hard and TT continues to look bad defensively.

Why is TT going to suddenly start pulling 6 rpg? In 30 mins!
Nate is going to score 8 ppg in 10 min? Why not play him the
whole game and get the full 35 points?!

0 mpg for JYD, Malik, Lee, and Butler?
I can't picture Ariza getting more mpg than Q and Nate getting as many mpg as Q. Q's a 15 and 6 player from a 62 win team and has decent defense, excellent rebounding, and good post moves.

I just woke up, and this is pretty much how I see it....

well, I see Rose starting, for some reason it just seems brown's style. A hustling PF that played for the best man at his wedding.

I see Frye coming off the bench to spell James and staying in until he gets in foul trouble or is being abused defensively.

Sweets is adios. IMHO

I would like to see more Lee, but the log jam at PF is going to pretty much keep him cemented to the bench, unfortunately.

Q is going to get more mins than TT. He is more fearless. I think TT's days as a Knicks are numbered. Most likely TT will be in Brown's doghouse just like in his rookie year. That's how the cookie will crumble.

I don't really think that's in question. I think the question is if Jerome and/or Malik will get any minutes, and if Ariza can get PT over THEM. I think we all realize that TT will probably be in LBs doghouse from the start. His starting days are over.

I think Q definitely starts at SH, however, I don't think he gets more PT than Crawford, coming off the bench. In fact, I think Craw will be more productive b/c I agree with Briggs that Craw is more talented than Q. I didn't think that was the case in the past, but I've looked at both players plenty of times to change my mind. Craw is much more active and can create his own shot, as well for others. It's the size that keeps Q in the starting lineup.

Briggs, I find it interesting how you have Marbs playing just 34 minutes, putting up 17 and 7.

I can't see how Marbury and Crawford will both average 7 assist.
If Marbury is moving over to the 2 position, is scoring is going to go down?
There is no way that Nate gets that many minutes as a rookie, no matter who is coaching especially with guys in front him like Marbury. I think Q is capble of giving the Knicks more than 20 minutes a game, can't see how he will drop 7 points in scoring, I think Ariza will get about 8 pps, his other stats I agree with. I think you are right about Frye and Sweetney but I think Sweetney will score more and rebound less.
