If shandon gets waived by Miami, could we bring him back for the vets minimum?

Reason, he is a larry brown type player, but we are paying him big money, he is on the books so why not let him earn it here?

Not going to make or break our season, and he could eat minutes from rookies, but he was a good professional about his game, and could help the rookies.

Just a light thought on a slow summers day........

you can not re-sign a waived player.

A team can't re-sign a waived player for the duration of the contract.

I don't want Shandone here anymore, and neither does Isiah. Thank God. I mean, can we move on?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Do you remember how him and Isiah left things? There is no chance those two will ever be in the same room together for the rest of their lives and not get into a fist fight, let alone be resigned by him. From what I hear that whole thing was even worse than what was written in the press.

True, he left badly.

I just thought with a new coach, new system, and he was a good defender, it was worth a tedious diatribe at best!

The answer is NO. You don't bring back a scrub after throwing one away. I say Knicks stay as is and go into the season with what we have.

IM paying a motherphucher 8 million, I want some return!
Business, just business.

I really am not tht passionate about this, but Isiah was stupid in the way he handled the whole thing. Its one thing to blow money on Penny cuz it was a price we paid for Marbs, but Isiah took a dump on shandon and while Shandon was not gonna contribute much, 24 million wasted was stupid!

When it is said what a good business man Isiah is, the Shandon thing really was one of the stupidest things any GM could do.

Yeah we really should have kept Shandon when we had Penny, H20, and Craw here. Shandon brought so many things to the game I just don't know why we didn't hold on to him.

to be fair, he was the only one out of those three that can play defense. buying out players is pretty crazy, since they still count on your cap and youre basically paying them to NOT work for you...if dolan was willing to throw away 24 million on shandon it makes me think that he'd rather keep houston and use the amnesty on shandon.

You mean we're still tied to Shandon even though we bought him out last year? You mean his contract still counts against our cap? But Bonn said that we're not tied up with players if we buy them out, like it's some kind of panacea for signing players to bad contracts.

Bonn: "again, we're NOT tied up with James for 5 years. He can be bought out like Shandon after about 2 years if he doesn't work out."

I doubt we gave shandon a ballon payment!

If we did, it would have counted against the cap the year you do it!

That is why shandon is talked about for the amnesty.

No- he was bought out of his contract- so when we bought him out he was owed $24m over three years and we gave him something like $20m in one payment there and then.

its the contract $24 over 3 that is still on our cap number

the only reason I'd want to bring Shandon back is so we could stick him at the end of the bench and release him a second time!
