PORTLAND -- The Trail Blazers have suspended forward Darius Miles for two games for conduct detrimental to the team and insubordination.
"I am disappointed that we've had this distraction to deal with today," Trail Blazers President Steve Patterson said in a written release. "We expect a certain behavior from everyone in our organization, and what happened yesterday is not acceptable behavior. The organization is suspending Darius for two games effective today."
The Blazers return to action Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Rose Garden.
Miles belittled coach Maurice Cheeks during practice Thursday. The Oregonian says Miles repeatedly called Cheeks a racial epithet.
What the Blazer fans think of him.

Sound like Gazy to me, but with a far worse attitude.

Then you’ve got Darius Miles for another five years. Boy let me tell you, if there ever was such a thing as ultra-crazy, Miles is it. The incident that involved bombarding Mo Cheeks- a class guy in my book- with racial slurs (at least a half-dozen, if I recall correctly) is something you should keep in mind. Miles has found his way out of two teams in a heartbeat. He is the epitome of trouble, and he is now in your hands.

Blazer President Steve Patterson claims the document pertaining to Miles was merely a proposal drawn up by Wechsler — who apparently sees fit to return reporters’ calls only when he thinks it could work to his client’s advantage. Wechsler did not return Portland Tribune phone calls this week.
“He wrote up the proposal as a settlement to the grievance,” Patterson says. “That is his position.”
Were the Blazers considering agreeing to it?
“I’m not going to talk about something that is being represented as the whole relationship between the franchise and the player,” Patterson says. “The (Oregonian) article and its allegations are unfair, not true and miscast the relationship between the franchise and one of our employees. We’re going to hold everybody accountable for their actions.”
Miles says he was unaware that any deal was in the works, but he also says he didn’t know about the players’ union grievance, which was confirmed by a member of the league office.
“All I know is, I haven’t gotten my money back,” Miles says. “I have to pay for my mess. My agent handles those things, but he never told me nothing like that. Far as I know, we paid it, and that’s it.”
The suspension came after Miles and Cheeks argued during a video session attended by all the players and coaches. The Oregonian reported that Miles used the N-word “at least 20 times” during the confrontation, that Miles followed Cheeks into General Manager John Nash’s office and chided him with “That’s right, run to your daddy.”
Pretty despicable stuff, it would seem.
There were some mixed emotions by management over Miles’ culpability because of Cheeks’ relationship with his players. Most head coaches keep a separation between themselves and the players. Through his four years with the Blazers, Cheeks often has acted more like a teammate than a coach. He jokes and exchanges jive talk on the same level as his players more than most head coaches. Being friends has been important to him. Some players have taken advantage of that.
Cheeks told The Oregonian he was not offended by Miles’ racial slur: “From him to me, it’s OK.” He said he was deeply hurt, however, when Miles told the coach he didn’t like him. Cheeks also accepted partial blame for the incident, saying he had come on strong in criticism of Miles.
“He went over the line, but maybe I had a little part in it, because something in my voice was antagonistic, which made him go that way,” Cheeks said.
Oh, and one more,
Portland police are investigating a fight at a strip club that allegedly involved two Trail Blazers players.
Police said players Darius Miles and Qyntel Woods were in a brawl early Thursday morning with at least three other men at the Exotica International Club for Men. Witnesses said the fight eventually spilled into the parking lot.

When police arrived at 2:25 a.m., they said no one was there and no arrests were made. But officers continue investigate.
"Apparently there was a fight, and we are still trying to gather the facts," Blazers president Steve Patterson said. "We don't have a comment until we can gather all the information we can."
And this is the guy you want around our rebuiding team and rookies??
At least Rasheed was sometimes constructive in his raging anger. Getting T'd up can inspire you and your teammates. But Miles only gets riled up off the court. On the court, it seems like he just dont care.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?
