Based on what I've read lately, it looks like Orlando is getting ready to self-destruct and start over.

How would this look to you:

Cato, Christie

FOR

Timmy, Fut. Draft Pick

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

T Thomas and P Hardaway for G Hill, D Christie and K Cato. Grant and Stephon are friends and Grant can help Trevor develop. They were gonna cut Christie anyways. They might not want to move Cato tho, thinking they would get something better for him. Then we can move D Christie, M Rose, and M Sweetney for C Boozer when Utah gets off to a bad start.

But this will all never happen. But its a thought. Penny finishing his career in Orlando would work too. Eh.

Don't like that deal. Both Cato and Christie are over 30 years old and they don't really make our team that much better right now. I would rather have Frye getting minutes than Cato and as for Christie, our backcourt is already full right now with younger players that should get minutes. Plus, I wouldn't give a pick in a deal like this. I think its better to wait until the deadline to trade Tim unless we really get a good deal done right now.

Timmy's not gonna land you an impact player.

I agree its not likely, but its not impossible. Baron Davis was had for some expiring contracts and fillers.. its possible just not likely. I don't want Grant Hill that much anyway, if they were offering Dwight Howard now that would be a different story but that day will NOT come in the near future.

I want TT's expiring contract to be a component of a trade that lands a significant impact player. I wouldn't do that deal even without the draft pick included.

If Dale Davis can do it, I wouldn't be fast to say that Tim can't if a team has a firesale.

Penny for Hill.....you know....the whole Penny back in Orlando thing.

That would make sense if they drafted Granger or someone other than Fran "Ran back to Europe" Vasquez.

Grant is over the Hill....he's still a good player but he is old, old, old and a still has concerns over his health. He's still a good player though.

do you like Jerome James at 5 years & $30 million? personally i think Cato's a better player than Jerome James...certainly a better defender, gives you more consistent effort on both ends of the floor, & can block shots with the best of them...i'd easily make that trade if i could...Christie is another player who can add a nice element to this team, mainly perimeter defense.

i think penny and tim should be saved in the event of a firesale in february. using them now would probably be the WRONG time to move them.

I agree with what you said TMS but about Christie.. he has to be on the floor to provide perimeter defense, I just can't see him getting playing time ahead of Steph, Jamal, Q and Nate. It would be tough to find time for him.

Yeah but that would mean Crawford would have to be shipped A.S.A.P.

That's what I meant about it being easier to get a back-up shooting guard. Christie would work better behind Q because of his defense and experience.

In that regard, the trade makes alot of sense....but like I said their would have to be a Crawford trade done immediately before training camp.

Now I'd definitely trade Penny for Hill. Maybe the Magic would buy into the sentiment.

The ironic thing would be Allan Getting waived, then Grant Hill gets traded here and making a solid contribution.

I agree... I think we should waive Houston (amnesty), buyout Penny (even if we save $2mm = $4mm in luxury) and keep TT around in case there is a Sheed like firesale at the deadline.

It's all wishful thinking.

I do believe that we could get him with signifiantly less than trading Craw, though.

which is why we should trade TT who will be serviceable for 1 yr and allow them to sign free agents 1 yr sooner. Unless TT is going to get us Elton Brand. Yeah that would be a Rasheed like firesale that isn't happening. The only firesale will be Steve Francis or another combo guard like Baron Davis
