Hi Isaih...I was only kidding about the Q Richardson / Nate Robertson for Kurt Thomas trade. You see I wasn't aware that Joe Johnson was going to bolt. Who the hell would go to Atlanta willingly??? Also, I saw some highlight reel dunks by Little Nate from Summer League. And, then more I look at him, Kurt Thomas really has crazy eyes...kinda freeks me out a bit. So, can we just say that trade never happened???

What do they do now? Do they try to add Finley (as reported & if Mavs release him)? How about Vladimir Radmanovic or Antoine Walker to replace all that they have lost?

Yes the Hawks overpaid, but they had to land somebody. Another year like last year & they'd be demoted to the NBDL.

Talk about a bad off-season for the Suns.

they were hot to get rid of Q, and we had a piece that they wanted who had less time on his contract

remember they have 22 year old amare stoudemire and we dont, thats where the discussion ends.

If the Suns could take a mulligan on the Q trade, they certainly would. They never intended to give up the 21st pick in this draft-- they were forced to in order to consumate the deal. Recall that the trade was on its last legs because of insurance concerns, but at that point Q refused to go back to the desert, so Phoenix had to give up more than they originally intended. Score one for Isiah.

That still doesn't merit loosing two of your starters from your team that went to the western conference finals the year b4. I'm sure they weren't sitting around after getting bounced out by san anton saying "hey, let's get rid of TWO of our starters and get bench guys and/or inferior players."

Loosing Q Rich,JJ and the rights to Nate didn't put them over the top of the spurs. Ya think?

my take on that Q trade...it was more for that #21 pick.

if hodge or nate were gone, then the trade would've collapsed.

i believe it was the knicks camp that made the whole hub-bub about the back injury so they had a built-in excuse to get out of the deal if the player they wanted at 21 wasn't around.

it was a good move on isiah's part.

Actually i heard that the insurance thing never was a real concern but was going to be used as a cop out for the knicks if Nate or Hodge weren't on the board.

I wonder if PHO would have gone after Bobby Simmons if they knew JJ wanted the max. Too late I guess, but SG is the easiest position to fill.

i wont take it from our view, because i wouldve traded KT for pick 21 and left off Q out of the trade if I couldve. That being said we received the 21 pick and some cash BECAUSE we cannot insure Q against back injury. If he sustains a back injury, we are on the till for the whole thing. He laso had back end salary that KT didnt. If they could have this trade over Pheonix would still ship Q out for KT and pick 21 in a nano second, id bet a lot of money on that.

OUR view is we HOPE Q can regain his form from 4 years ago and learn how to play defense or he will be an expensive bench player, I personally DO however feel nate robinson will be an nBA impact player in some form and when you get a young impact player, that almost always assures you of a succesful trade from our vantage point

I thought they were getting rid of Q so they could re-sign Amare & JJ?

I dunno, I think they would have kept Q & pick 21 if they knew they were loosing JJ for Hawk retreads. I love KT, but he ain't that good!

maybe we can trade crawford to them in some sort of three-way deal. craw can play the point too to give nash a rest and would be valuable as a good ballhandler…he could easily fill the 3 point chucker void left by Q. how about a 3-way sign and trade where the suns get craw, the hawks get JJ, the knicks get Harrington?

Raja Bell is a better player than Q, other than rebounding, Bell is superior in almost every way, with the biggest difference on the D.

Agreed about Raja. I like the KT trade, but not a huge Q fan. The Knicks needed to get younger and get a wide SG who can guard the Kobes of the world. I hope Q is up to the task. But getting NAte for Kurt is a coup.

Anyone else think it's weird that Q and JJ both wanted out of PHO? I know they were treated rudely by management, but anyone else think Amare might be the monumental jerk he's rumored to be? I dunno, I just think it's funny that two starters from one of the most exciting 60 win teams ever, where everyone got to run and score, wanted OUT at first opportunity.

How is Raja Bell better then Q.

Raja Bell is a role player, a good one, I agree, but Q and Craw are both way more talented and valuable as a trade asset. You could argue that Bell can help a certain team more, but to say that Bell is just better then Q is silly.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Briggs....you're a knowledgable guy about hoops, that is clear. But, you are becoming brutally pessimistic & anti-Knicks. Matter of fact, this site is getting more & more littered with guys who sound like they'd rather root for any team but the Knicks.

Raja Bell is the shooting guard version of Junk Yard Dawg. How he is better than Q is beyond me?? Q played a style that was not really fitted to his skill set last year, but he adapted for what was asked of him. To me, he'll go back to a style not unlike the late Bobby Phills...a punishing two guard. There's also no reason to think he won't roll up his sleeves & defend w/ LB here.

Wrong, if that were the case then we never would've heard the story about Q refusing to return. The obvious implication is that the trade was going to be called off, and Phoenix was going to be content with keeping Q around. Since he refused, though, they had to give up more than they wanted to just to ship him off and complete the deal.

When the KT-Q+Pick trade was announced and the first reaction reported was Q's, he didn't sound like he wanted out of Phoenix at all. His reaction was like, well, Im going to a lottery team after being in the playoffs, but I understand its bussiness. He was glad that he would go back to his style of play, posting up and shooting less three's. But at first I don't think he wanted out of Phoenix. Now, JJ could be another story. Maybe he was really tired of Amare. Maybe he just wants to shine rather than win, and he felt he wouldn't have done that behind Nash, Amare and Matrix. Who knows..

This is crazy. There's just no way the Suns would have traded Q (their 2nd best SG/SF) and Nate (a good backup PG) if they knew that their top SG/SF and backup PG was leaving. When your top player at three roles (SG, SF, backup PG) is leaving, you don't trade away your 2nd best players at those 3 roles too. The Suns messed up and will probably have a negative 12 to 15 win differential from last season.

I agree with the wins going down. But they may actually be better suited for the playoffs.

how are they better suited? 7 people under contract, 1 drafted in the 2nd round, no starting SG, KT at center(Lol), no depth except for maybe pg. they are in no way the same team.

well, they have the league MVP at the point and Amare and the Matrix...basically what marbury had when he was there...think nash still puts up MVP numbers and gets them to 60 wins?

I don't...yet, most expected marbury to be able to when he was there...no matter what, marbs is going to come out on the wrong end of the stick until he wins a championship (which, btw, iverson, kidd, nash and pretty no other point guard has in the last 10 years that didn't play for detroit, chicago or san antonio...or is in the hall of fame)
