how does that work financially? if its a sign & trade and JJ is getting max money how does diaw & picks even out? you can throw 2 picks in any deal to even it out?

I'm not sure, but people at realgm are talking about it all over the place... it is not official yet, they are still in talks I think.

Yes but Phoenix is signing JJ to a max deal and then trading him to Atlanta for Diaw who makes nowhere near Max Money.. I don't understand how this works under the CBA.

Atlanta has the cap room to absorb JJ's extra salary. It's pretty straight forward.

If this is true: Phoenix is screwed. They'll struggle to make the playoffs.

holy ****. this is for real. it's all over the realgm forums (atleast the team forums with alotta traffic).

I wouldn't go as far as to say the Suns are screwed, b/c they still have tons of cap space, but losing JJ hurts for sure.

You guys do realize the Hawks really overpayed for him right?

2 1st rounders?? If those aren't protected, guess who made out like bandits...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

well they are adding
Raja Bell
Kurt Thomas
Boris Diaw
Dijon Thompson
Lucas Tisher
and from what i hear they are in with Mike Finley
and they get two first round picks fom Atl

out the door with
Voshkul
Q
JJ

My guess is they know up the ante to Hunter, lets say 3mm per that would put them at a cap number of 55MM

I think they realized that they were so tight with their talent, that while the team was fantastic ANY injury is devastating.
Now they added in depth and defense. It sounds bad, but I think it could work out better in the playoffs for them.

I still think they have the best players in the league at the C and PG positions--that alone will make them great.

He'll play PG for them. Too bad the Hawks dropped the ball on Dalembert/Chandler/Curry, they could have had a very nice team.

They still have 10+ Million left in cap space. They could easily push for Chandler or Curry. Chicago doesn't really have the money to sign both, so I think, depending on how much Atlanta is willing to pay, that Paxson is only keeping 1...

sure why not...maybe we can trade TT to them to be their C...i mean, they can never have enough swingmen.

Suns can get Ex Nash teamate finley for much much less.

Say trade is Two no. 1s, Diaw, finely, for JJ.

NOt bad! Overpaying for JJ is nuts!

Yeah I think 2 future 1s round picks for JJ is ALOT.

If I'm the Suns, and I know I can go out there and get Finley and still get back a defensive minded young swing player in Diaw with a very high ceiling who is known to play team ball, I do it too.

The thing everybody says they loose most out in JJ is playmakin, but Diaw 's strong point is playmaking, the Hawks played him at the point some, and he is unselfish to a fault.

But those 2 future 1st round picks are just sick. Thats basically two lottery picks.

Who really thinks Hawks are not back in the lottery JJ or no JJ next year?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
