Yankees - famous for trading young prospects for established veterans.
Knicks - famous for trading draft picks and cap space for established veterans.
So where do we draw the line?
Well, I was listening to the SAS show on ESPN Radio earlier, and they were arguing about a possible Kris Benson - Alfonso Soriano deal. Alot of Yankee fans were calling in, giving their $.02 about it, and from what I heard from them, it really struck me as sad. The Yankees, who I bitterly hate, have officially burnt out. In baseball, it's all about having the money to go out and spend on established talent, but the Yanks have done that and STILL failed. Now those established veterans are slowly deteriorating, and the team is in a mess. Their pitching sucks, and therefore they have to rely on their bats....only to gain 10 runs and give up 15 (so to speak).
So what does that have to do with the Knicks? Well, I finally feel like we're drawing the line. The Knicks under Layden (and sometimes under Isiah

), have been known to copycat the Yanks' formula of "success", only to have it thrown right back in their face. Well, I've been, by far, one of the first people to come out and say - trade Sweetney, trade Ariza if push comes to shove. Give up the draft picks. Get that established veteran PF.
I think I'm wrong. I think, atleast for this season, we really have to draw the line and stand pat. I gotta belive Sweetney is gonna show up to training camp in great shape, with improved quickness, and ready to go. And I belive Larry Brown can be difference b/w mediocre and the potential to do big things. But only time will tell. Until then, let's ride this team and see where they take us. It's up to them to prove themselves...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure.
And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.
