a lot of people say the knicks are rebuilding but i dont see how a team could rebuild with the highest payroll and are in discussions with a 10 million a year coach. LB

yes. The key to the rebuilding is the roster full of young guys and the sloughing in the next couple of years of the old worthless farts on the team. And they know who they are!

Technically we are rebuilding......it's hard to dump salary when you have a team full of overpaid worthless players that nobody wants.

People forget what Layden has done to this franchise. Isiah has done more than the average GM in only a year and a half. The payroll is still high but the talent level is definately shaping up around here.

TT and Penny are expiring, Houston will be waived, and Rose came with 2 draft picks.
Marbury was plan A, right before the rebuilding. Mo T...well I would love to see anyone try to exlain this one.

We're in the early stages of rebuilding, just don't expect us to be looking to actually get underthe cap, but eventually we'll still have to shave off some millions and atleast try to get closer to it. We're stock piling some young talent and picks, which is a very good start. I still say James was a step in the wrong direction, but maybe it'll pan out...

dude, it takes time. name one team that has had a roster with even close to the money problems we have and cleared it in a year and a half or less. i have all the confidence in the world that zeke will continue on this path to youth and athletisism. we don't have to necesarily have to be under the cap, just not be the laughing stock by having the highest payroll AND a loosing record.

Not to get side tracked, but ya he is. He is a very good player, but he just isn't a franchise player and yet is payed like one.

They ARE rebuilding, but you can rebuild many ways. You don't have to just get rid of every contract and get every pick in a year. It takes time, patience. They have the highest payroll? Yeah, but we've had those terrible contracts for a long while and we won't lose them all on one swing. People, either we rebuild, retool, whatever, it all takes time. In NY it all has to be now, but thats not the real way. You rebuild your team getting young players, letting some contracyts just expire or turning them on picks. Haven't you noticed Isiah did just that in the last trades he made (except the MO T... grrr)? Our rebuilding is slow, trying to get young players and taking small steps in direction of winning. If we make the playoffs this season but just get to the first round, that would be a step. This isn't like our last trip to the playoffs. We can see now that this team has many more young players than that team.

If it were possible, those names except Marbury would be deleted off the roster. If you forget them then it is very clear that we are rebuilding.....or reloading.

Be easy....

Hopefully they'll do, but that's not an easy thing to do in little time. Houston's contract will probably be waived. Many max contracts are expiring soon and other players will be traded. It will probably happen but not in the same offseason.

Yea I would agree that we are rebuilding (though doing so in a unique way). Only two players are here from the Layden days (and Houston is on his way out) so I would say that counts as rebuilding since Isiah has essentially tore it all down on the fly while replacing those players with others.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

The only way you could think the team is not rebuilding is if you're stuck on your own narrow viewpoint of rebuilding as meaning getting under the cap. When the majority of the players are 19 to 25 and have very nice talent, of course the team is rebuilding.

exactly bonn...ofcourse, Isiah could have just waived his magic wand and had $60 million in salary disappear...I think that's what you expected.

Are the knicks rebuilding? yes. Are they doing it differently than other teams have in the past. yes. Does it make sense happening the way it is in the biggest city in the world? yes.

Is it working? yes.
Will we be a contender in 3 years? ABSOLUTELY!

How long has Isiah been on the job again? About 18 months.

Are people losing a sense of perspective on how long Isiah has been on the job? Absolutely.

When Houston is waived, TT and Penny are gone and Next year's 2 additional expiring contracts are moved, will that help us get under the cap? No, but it will move us pretty damn close.

Are the knicks rebuilding? Not in the traditional way.

Are the knicks rebuilding? For the last time...NO!

I agee that Marbury is overpaid. He is almost the same player as Steve Francis but makes a lot more money.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
are the knicks rebuilding??
