When the Knicks drafted Nate Robinson, I said to myself "Who the hell is that guy? He probably will make the team and be a scrub"...and I looked at BigSm00th and he was like "Oh ****!", and was amazed and both happy at the same time, and I was wondering why. Little did I know about this freak of nature called Nate Robinson...Now that he's been one of the elite players in the SL and even stating that his poor part of his game has been desciscion making, in 2006-2007, what do you think his numbers will be and do you think he will be starting or a backup most his career?

If he can play defense at all he will be a starter--the sky is the limit as far as his stats go.

i think he has the talent to be a starter, but as long as Marbury's here i don't see him starting at PG for this team...Marbury isn't a good choice at starting SG imo.

Nate will definitely be a whole lot of fun to watch, that's for sure.

I am not sure Nate will ever be a starter. He is more of a scorer. I do think he will be an excellent backup PG.

Larry is willing to think out of the box. Nate plays D, crashes the boards and plays big. He's strong and while players can shoot over him the long rebounds will turn into a lot of fast break dunks for him.

Larry moved AI to the shooting guard. I can see him thinking that way with Marbury. Time will tell

He'll eventually be a starter but regardless he needs to play a lot of mins THIS season. If Larry Brown coaches, this kid will play. He provides the pressure, on ball, full court defense that LB loves -- See Mike James and Lindsey Hunter. He'll also give us some much needed intensity and toughness off the bench. A guy like Herb I don't think has the confidence nor the coaching qualifications to play a rookie drafted late in the first round over guys making a ton of money. Briggs is right -- unless we trade Marbury or Crawford, we're going to need to play a ton of 3 guard sets and LB is a coach that could definitely make that work.

I guess this is improvement of your draft nite assessment of the pick. When you wanted IT gone for the pick.

I mentioned this in the Crawford/Brown thread, but I'll repeat it here.

Chad Fraud seems confident that when Larry arrives, Marbury will be shopped...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Yeah... because of the situation he's coming into w/ the Knicks w/ Marbury, the best he'll do in the near term is 6th man, a la Ben Gordon this year.

In spite of his height, he can get his shot off against anyone. He's my darkhorse candidate for 6th man of the year.

huh? you have me mixed up for someone else dude, cuz i was in favor of getting Nate from the beginning...the pick i didn't like was passing up on Gerald Green in favor of Channing Frye.

Name me a rookie that didn't start and made an allstar team?

nate, combined with craw, and ariza will cause havoc on the court. if tim and jerome can get their heads on right, then nate, craw, ariza, and tim with james bruising down low, would create the fastest lineup in the east.

Right it was Green over Frye. But didn't you want Taft at 21 too?

there was one guy who did want nate robinson from the beginning, well before anyone knew who he was for th most part. in fact i pulled a little bynum tirade to get my point accros. in fact i called him a top 3 pick if he was 6-2+ and a mini dwaye wade before isiah did
its all there in black and white. if i remember correctly 95%+ people thought he was to small or just didnt know who he was. a few guys aftre the fact started saying something, but thats after the fact

hell no i didn't want Taft...i wanted Warrick at 21 but he got snatched up before it was our turn to pick...i didn't think isiah would take Nate that early but i wasn't upset that he took him...i was on board w/everyone else who loved Nate months before the draft even went down...i also wanted Simien at the #30 pick, but he got snatched up before our pick as well.

BRIGGS, i don't mean to break up your patting yourself on the shoulder session, but if you dug up that thread you'd see a post of mine that lauded how i watched Nate dunking on people last year in a game i saw & loved what i saw...it's cool if you want to take credit for these things, but at least be accurate.

i've also been watching him for the last two years and have seen him play live a lot since i'm out on the west coast for most of the year.

Briggs I do remember you liking nate, i saw nate play but I just didn't see how he would fit in NY with all the guards we had, but you hit that on the head, you also nailed Shawn Livingston, saying how good he would be, so far he hasn't done anything yet,but he shows flashes of being a fantastic player, I know I gave you grief on livingston, but you were all over that one.... good going...
