offering him 50-60 mm is fiscal insanity. according to joe dumars he is no-where near healthy and the last thing we need is constant disruptions with the coach leaving the team.

I say it's better to bring him on as a consultant for one year at 2mm, make sure his health is in order and then offer him a 3 yr 22m$

just throwing 50-60mm$ at this guy blindly is , well crazy

At least the coach doesnt count against the cap. If Dolan wants to fund LB's retirement so be it.

We would have to fire Larry Brown in order for us to really be hurt by his salary. And even if he was a disruption. Pistons still went to the finals and lost a close game 7. So he will either honor the 5yrs that we would give him. Or he quits and forfits the money.

Agreed, the amount of money doesn't concern me since its just a matter of Dolan dropping more of Daddy's money. But it will be interesting to see LB making twice as much as Isiah. Will his massive ego be able to handle that?

Who cares? We're talking about Dolan's money going to a guy Isiah's courting. What does ego have to do with it? Will Larry Brown's ego be able to handle the fact that Isiah Thomas is a two time champion on the actual court and he's a hall of famer on the player side? Who even cares? What sense does it all make? Everyone just wants the Knicks to win. Other than that, you're reaching. Reeeeally reaching lol.

I guess you've never noticed Isiah trying to take any credit he can for anything that goes on with the Knicks. Well some of that credit is going to start going to LB if he comes here. The money is just another thing that an egomaniac like Isiah won't forget.

If you want to pretend that these 2 massive ego's won't clash, go ahead. I prefer to be realistic about these things.

I can't see us wanting to bring him in as a consultant right now. The fact is, he's not getting any younger and as long as he's healthy now, that's what matters. We may be able to get 5 years out of him now providing he's healthy, but if you take him out of coaching for a year or two, you don't have much of a chance to get him for that amount of time after.

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately for us Knicks fans it seems to always be the former and not the latter.

I'm shocked at how many folks don't care Briggs. I would think though you're being a bit extreme.

I'm somewhere in between.

Larry aint going to coach the Knicks for five years. We'll be lucky if we can get two! Sh!t, we might not get one!

So, if the deal is to bring LB in for two years and have he move up into the front office, great.

If we're going to have LB lay someone kind of foundation for future success, great.

But I'm willing to bet money that we don't really go anywhere with Larry as a coach- the roster ain't there, don't matter who's driving.

Yes, we're going to find out is Marbury a star or diva numbers player.

We're going to find out can Crawford and Q learn to play defense.

In five years, with some serious talent upgrade, we might be in a position to make a championship run, but that effort would be better served by parking in the lotto for the next four years.
