Swift agrees to terms with Rockets
By JONATHAN FEIGEN

Forward Stromile Swift, the only player the Rockets have targeted in free agency, agreed to terms with the Rockets on Monday evening, Swift's agent, Andy Miller, said.

He has decided to become a Houston Rocket," Miller said. "He's absolutely excited about playing with Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. The Houston organization has been very consistent and adamant about getting him."

if the rockets can land a solid pure PG....watch out.

eric snow anyone?

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

just what they need - ANOTHER scoring PG.

Wow, Houston must be some sorta safe haven for unappreciated PG's...

btw, rockets fans are going NUTS for this move.

now with swift blocking shots with yao, and the help defense, houston just got MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

with a rested yao (for the first time in years), and a 2nd season with tmac, they could be poised to make some serious noise.

i see dallas kind of imploding this year. dirk called out players left and right in the playoffs last year, and then CHOKED big time. avery wasn't ready either. finley may get cut...this may be a ticking bomb...

with Rahim going for about the same $$$ this just shows you how TERRIBLE the Jerome deal is. We pay the same $$$ for a guy who's averaged 5/4 as guys like Rahim and Swift who are so much more productive its not even funny

James is a Center. Centers are worth their weight in gold in today's NBA.

that is kinda scary how these guys are going to get the same amount. i guess they saw the PF glut just like us and said "NO THANKS". or isiah isn't as smooth as advertised when dealing with free agents. he has yet to bring one in via MLE/LLE, selling them on the idea of playing for ny.

EDIT - or he said he's set at PF (maybe with frye in tow) and said "NO THANKS" to them...

thank you fish...i was just going to post on this after i heard about the Rahim & Swift signings...all these posters who think the Knicks got James at a good price need to pay attention...a 29 year old career 5 ppg 3 rpg player signed to MLE dollars is NOT what anyone should even consider a bargain...he is way overpriced, plain & simple.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

what stinks is that houston just got a 25 year old, who will be 30 when his deal is up...the same age james is now...on the FIRST year of his deal...

it's always been about length of contract, not the player...

How did we over pay for James?

swift went for $28 million and $32 million over five years, we offered him the MLE and obviously he wanted another mill a year.

If they don't want the MLE, we aint getting them, so once again, this means we couldn't get him.

We got JJ AND didn't have to give up anybody, that's cheaper than getting him AND losing a player that they would want.

Once again, ABOUT THE SAME $$$ is NOT the same, it's more than we could afford.

Nice try though.

that goes double for Rahim.

You guys all claim to be GM's in training, but you can't see the obvious, JJ was the ONLY player willing to come to the knicks for the MLE...either we use it or we lose it.

But, ofcourse, feel free to make half arsed comparison's to players signing for more money...if anything, the Rockets over paid.

We gave full MLE to a scrub center.

The nets gave full MLE to a star PF.

Now, if you can't see that we overpaid, then whatever.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

dj! it looks like everyteam around the league are trying to upgrade...The Rockets are trying to get better, maybe TMack will finally go passt the first round this time. Our best move will come once Larry is on board, because that is the missing ingredient right now. We still have expiring contracts to play around with, if Larry deemed that we need extra pieces to get over the top, Zeke will use them to do just that...
