From RealGM Knick Forum:

"An NBA insider was quoted by Chad Ford as saying "The Atlanta Hawks are about to run into a string of luck like no one has seen in recent years." This insider who has ties to numerous sources around the league told media sources Monday that the Hawks are about to pull off three moves that will immediatley change the face of this franchise for the next decade. First, it has been reported that Joe Johson is all but a lock to play for the Hawks next season. Johnson, who is looking for more money out of Pheonix, has reported that moving on to Atlanta is not only an option he has considered but one he sees as likely. Second, sources close to the New York Knicks report that Stephon Marbury is on the block and is in heavy discussions with the Hawks about filling their PG void in a trade that would send Marbury and players to be named later to the Hawks for Al Harrington, Tony Delk, and Ty Lue. Last, ties close to The Bulls have stated that Eddy Curry wants as far away from the windy city as possible and is considering anyone that will match his desired pricetag. With the acquisitions of Joe Johnson, Marbury, and Curry, added to Josh Smith, Josh Childress, and newly acquired stud Marvin Williams the Hawks have playoffs written all over them."

I shudder to think if Chad Ford is either A.) Right or B.) more F.O.S. than we could have possibly imagined.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

If you're the GM of the NY Knicks can you ever for the life of you imagine trading Stephon Marbury for Harrington, Delk and Lue?

Actually, I'm assuming "and players to be named" means we'd be sending Malik Rose or Taylor to Atlanta. Picks or no picks, that would save us a BUNDLE in cap space.

That said, Chad Ford, while being a professional, sometimes goes a little TOO far with these rumors. He needs to stop overextending himself like this. How stupid will he look if Atlanta goes 0/3...

I was just gonna post thatif we're going to trade Marbury and his ridiculous $22mil per year for cap relief the Hawks trade for the expiring contracts of Harrington, delk, collier & the Hawks and a 1st round pick would be the best trade to make. Very similar to how Phoenix unloaded Marbury on us. The Hawks are the only team I realistically see wanting marbury since the fans love him there and teams are overpaying for talent at the moment.

This would allow us to bring in championship calibur players for that $22mil per year to surround our young players with

How are they just going to get two RFAs?

Phoenix will match & Chicago would probably match and trade him as soon as they could.

And isn't this old stuff?

Well, don't jump to conclusions just yet. Isiah, like I've said before, is covering all bases. He's keeping his options open. By "serious" discussions, I think he means they're talking. Nothing more to it.

What I find really hard to belive is JJ passing up the Suns for the Hawks, even if there's a slight discrepancy in $$$. Longer contract with the Suns almost makes up for it anyway...

No, this came out today. Grabbed it from the RealGM Knicks Forum. Ask them about it, I'd rather not....

entertaining this:

The Knicks future would be:

PG - Crawford and Nate
SG - Q
SF - Ariza and Lee
PF - Harrington and Sweetney
C - Frye

That Hawk trade would be TERRIBLE. We wouldn't be bringing in Harrington for his expiring contract. Isiah loves him and would keep him. Plus, this creates a God Awful even worse logjam at the guard position with Delk and Lue, who are worthy of minutes. No thanks to that trade. Marbury is better than Harrington anyway. I don't see what Zeke likes in that trade, but not in Dalembert. I would hand in my Knick card if we did that, and then signed WALKER.

Hmmm. Ty Lue is a UFA. Is this a sign and trade? The Hawks are in need of a PF. We have an abundance of that type. Unless we get one of their SFs, I say no thanks.

A Marbury, Rose, JYD for Josh Smith, Harrington and Collier is intruiging though. I would do that trade. It would be easier to trade Sweetney and Ariza now with Josh Smith in hand.

From Isiah's standpoint:

He likes Harrington

Harrington is still young

Even with Re-signing Harrington next year, it would give us atleast 12+ Million in cap space, and probably more considering we'd be dumping Malik or Taylor on ATL as well - ("Marbury and players to be named later for..."

The Hawks would more than likely give us a Future 1st

It gives us a legitimate reason to enter a brief rebuilding stage, and even more so, a reason to go after guys like Stro and Kwame

Assuming Larry Brown isn't available at that juncture, Herb would be given an opportunity to develop young talent...

That's how I see Isiah envisioning the pros of that trade.

if Isiah makes this lobsided trade its because he wants to dump Marbury's Contract and truly rebuild the team very quickly like Phoenix did. Not because he thinks Harrington is the answer. Although he will hype him up to new york fans at first

SupremeCommander's take on this (from RealGM):

"If it's Marbs and "players to be named later" that is pretty sweet. I am a Marbs fan, but I'm a bigger Knicks fan and the roster is more balanced with JCraw and Nate running the point. It is also more cap friendly this way.

The Hawks are buried beneath the cap and the Knicks could make them take their overpaid spare parts. The talent level of those players is all pretty much the same, so figure guys who didn't get too much PT will go, such as JYD and Rose, but maybe IT decided Mo should go

I think Harrington has stud written all over him too... and he fits the age bracket of the current Knicks. Trading TT for a starting center and garbage looks like a stronger possibility now as well."

If ATL adds their 1st round pick in '06, & the cap space afforded from that deal gives the Knicks a realistic shot at signing Lebron in '07, i'm 100% behind that idea.

and if Harrington performs well in NY with NAte and Crawford running the point he could resign him for a reasonable amount but the point if making this deal is unloading salary in order to make a play for a big free agent. not Antoine Walker

we better. since thats what Phoenix got from us for Marbury! I'm pretty sure we would in a trade like this. if not then Isiah is an idiot but he values draft picks so don't worry. even if its just 1st rounder this year. or maybe one this year and one next year

This trade would be all about getting Lebron and Larry Brown to New York. It would be bizarre, but it almost seems like it needs to happen at this point. If this trade doesn't happen now, I think something very similar will happen in February near the trade deadline.

I'd be behind that too, but isn't LeBron a restricted free agent that year, as well as Wade, Bosh, Melo, Howard and so and so? I'd love to sign any of those guys, but if their restricted, a team can match any offer, and it's the same the year after when OK4 and Howard are RFAs.

The way I see it though. Isiah LOVES Al Harrington, and would want to extend HIM long term.
