Thinking about it, this board is an accurate reflection of the thoughts of the VOCAL fans...the ones that Zeke says won't accept rebuilding. But I have to know after reading a couple of Marbs "supporters" that want him out of town now... What should we do with Marbury?
Keep Him
Trade him ASAP
Trade him within 2 years

ofcourse...I say keep him, but I have to know what this particular board thinks...I'm not sure I can stomach an entire summer of people that want my favorite knick traded...have to look for a more positive board.

Lemme know.

It's not about having it one way or the other, it's dependent on a few other things.....what coach is available (Herb Vs. Brown), what kind of Big Men are available (Magloire Vs. Stro and Kwame), etc.

It's less about how I or we feel about Steph, it's more about how this team is set to look come October...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

bobs got it. For now, Stephon is a Knick, and if it were me, I would not be actively looking to move him. Although, if the right deal came along, and I had an opportunity to move him for a package including Dalembert, you have to give it strong consideration, and when push came to shove, I would probably pull the trigger.
We can't decide right now how long we want to keep Stephon for. He's not a franchise talent, therefore, we can't deem him untouchable. Nor is he a problem that we should remove from the roster. Show me some offers before I make the decision.

not quite sure why people who want Marbury traded would force you to another forum...what's the point in only talking to people who like all the players you do? people don't bash Marbury for the sake of bashing him...the predominance of those who suggest Marbury trades are only doing so with the future considerations of the NY Knicks in mind...in the end, we're all Knick fans.

Yea, as its been said, I wouldn't look to trade Stephon just for the hell of it (as Chad Ford quite often suggests). However, if the right deal came along in which we would be getting a legitimate big man, then I would consider pulling the trigger. With that said, I want to see what Stephon can do with this roster.

problem is no one if going to trade for a 30yr old PG who makes $22mil a year. We're kinda stuck with him til 2009. It would be great if we can trade him for Nene & picks but I'm sure Denver would rather just keep Andre Miller

I would like to keep Stephon and find the big man that he needs to play with to succeed. Lets face it, no guard in this universe is going anywhere without a good big man unless your name is Michael Jordan. I just want Steph to have the chance to play with a good big man to shutup these people that label him a loser, man I get so agitated about that.. it's not his fault.

stop day-dreaming over that trade. this is like the 2nd or 3rd time you've mentioned it, and you're right, it would never happen.

anytime you have a player of marbury's caliber, teams will be interested if they don't have to give up much (other than cap space) to acquire him. if the sonics were willing to pay ray allen max money, then a playoff-bound team in need of a pg would surely trade for steph. it all depends on how cheap he'll come.

3 Stephon Marbury G 6-2 200 02/20/1977 Georgia Tech '96

1977--wouldnt that make him 28...not 30

keeper to me...only player on this squad thatplays on a consistently high level

I depends on whether one thinks we can win now, or that we can rebuild thru draft and creating cap room.

oh ok let me check. I was just surprised because i've been agreeing with everything you've said so far...you're very knowledgeable.its good to have fans who think about the future rather than root for success every year despite what the roster looks like

I was just worried that it was an overall sentiment...I'm not really into trades, etc. I like teams as they are and just hope they get better over time.

I'm a happy person, I like happy thoughts, but I'm not into stopping others from their opinion.

So, it's looking like marbs, for the most part, is wanted here for atleast 2 years.

That's good enough for me...

I am gonna stay out of the GM room and go back to my seat.

Once again, you guys have reminded me why I love coming to the UK forums.

Nalod, I don't know if I missed it in another thread, but are you back or posting from cafes?

Your safe jaunt didn't take you through London, did it??

Btw I voted KEEP. I think he'll adjust well to new running mates and I think Q will help a lot with halfcourt, as will Channing over time and an improved Sweet-n'-Low.

I am glad the majority wants the Knicks to keep Marbury. I guess the silent majority is not so silent here.

I dont know where this retarded logic came from but Marbury is not the problem. Moving him will not bring us the pieces that will fill the holes.

I don't think the spurs & lakers felt that way when they drafted Duncan and kobe or when Miami traded for Shaq because they had cap flexibility and players with value, who weren't severly overpaid. If Marbury had Odom's contract we'd get plenty of value back for him.
