If Nate Robinson gets a real chance with the Knicks, he'll be as much fun to watch as any kid in the league next season.

There are some smart NBA people I know who like Channing Frye more than they like Andrew Bogut.

Reading these is getting me hyped to see what they can do in SL.

Zeke and Thorn both liked Frye better than Bogut.

i'm 180 degrees from you guys.

I think Bogut is gonna be great. Flat out great.

A center needs 3 things to be great and he's got all 3.

I agree with you, if Bogut isnt a franchise C all star within 2 years I will shut my mouth. Channing Frye, atleast to me is not a C in the NBA. Bogut although 2 years younger, has already played Tim Duncan very well at 19 years old and took a CRPPY Utah team on his back BY HIMSELF and won 27 games. Did anyone watch Kentucky Utah--Kent game plan--the had three guys on Bogut with Size--all 6-11 to 7-3 and a guard every time he touched the ball. when you play for Arizona its easy for the FC players because you cant double team the block.
Channing Frye has length fluidity and touch, that should make him a good NBA player like I expect--a Tayshaun Prince of the PF position if you will, BUt WELL below the pronostications of what isiah is saying. I see Frye as a 14 point 6-7 reb 1.5 block guy, nice but not a FC franchise type of talent. Hell be able to score, but watch his rebounding technique, its not good. hes not fiery, he doesnt attack rebounds.

I think Channing can give us as much as 16pts, 9rebs, 1.7blocks by year 2 or 3 but it still won't be enough if he's our best frontcourt player. Heck Sweetney can give us that

Without looking it up, I'm thinking that those numbers would make him one of the elite centers in the game with only Shaq and Duncan matching those stats. Am I right?

oops I mean to type 16 & 9. that extra rebound makes a world of difference

I can see him being surprisingly good like Bosh was especially under Aguirre who will teach him to be more aggressive inside.

but that 16 & 9 will mean nothing in the playoffs when he goes up against real frontcourts. I'd much rather have an allstar calibur wing player & improve the frontcourt through trades and the MLE or trade Marbury for picks and land the next big thing and sign the next top free agent, but oh well, what can we do about it?!

I definitely don't see Bogut disappointing the way Olowokandi did over time. He doesn't come across as a selfish player. He seems awfully competitive and has a nasty streak about him.

He may not dominate, but he probably has the makings of an all-star quality center, perhaps all-NBA in time.

Channing Frye may yet turn out to be a "special" player, but maybe along the lines of a 16/9/2bpg tempo changing kind of guy, who'll get you +/- 5 in scoring or rebounding-- ie 11pts/4rbd one night, 21pts, 14rbds on a good day.

I could be wrong, but he doesn't seem to have the right type of bod to dominate night in and night out.

WEll it'll be interesting to track over the next few years your guys, Graham, Granger, Green and Bynum, and my guy, Frye.

Along the same lines I was checking out Snyder this year, since he came the closest to our nailing down who got taken with Marbury's pick.

So far - not too impressive. 5 points on 37% with virtually no boards, assists or steals.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

I think Andrew Bogut is a sure shot star at C. If these personell guys who preferred Frye are right, Frye is gonna incredible. I didn't see that on the college level, but then again I'm not paid to make those kinds of decisions.

exactly. he will do good against none playoff teams with mediocre frontlines and get shut down when it counts. Hence a 30-40win team unless they improve the frontcourt

I admit I don't think Frye is going to be dominant off the bat but you know, I really don't understand why people think you need to take somebody right out of high school with loads of potential or an "obvious" star straight out of College to get someone who is/will be/ awesome. Many players develop later than others. I'm hoping Isiah saw something in Frye that others missed. And something on our side is that Frye played a team game and wasn't really able to show what he had (except for the not so good rebounding eehe). Really looking forward to watching these young guys play.
Man, there will be lots of "we should" have's with this draft... just so deep.

If Frye isnt what they thought he would be OUT OF THE BOX, you are running into scary territory. I said on MSG drafting Frye was amistake at 8 and it would become apparnet quickly. I think he has a good chance of being outplayed by Lee and Butler. You can look at all the tape you want, but By God the RED flags were there.
