Before I start I just want to say. I am not a big fan of Antione Walker. I think he shoots too much, cares too much about his stats and camps out on the perimeter too much. Now, with that in mind, lets look at the facts.

Boston want to trade Pierce. Walker wants to come to NY, and Isiah wants Walker. We have 4 solid guards (Marbs, Craw, Nate and Q), at least 2 of wich can play the point. So, heres what I propose.

NY trades, Marbury, Penny(TT) and Sweetney
Boston trades Pierce, a resigned Antoine Walker and Mark Blount.

Boston gets enormous cap space by getting rid of Blounts horrendous contract. They get a star in return for their star. Plus they get a servicable PF in Sweetney. The Knicks start Jamal at point guard, with Nate backing him up. Walker can start a PF, and Blount is 7 ft tall, which qualifies him as a asset. Just.

Our starting line-up would be.

Crawford
Q-Rich
Pierce
Walker
Frye

Bench

Nate (PG)
MLE (Bell, Turkoglu etc.) (SG)
Ariza, TT/Penny. (SF)
JYD, ROse Mo T (PF)
Blount, Butler(C)

Hopefully Pierce's focus returns, and he provides much needed perimeter defense. Frye's weakside shot-blocking should compensate for Walker defensive frailties, and Blount can rebound and defend a little as well. We would need a serious banger to compensate for our lack of power at the power positions, but JYD and Rose should suffice. Besides Fortson is a FA if thats all we need.

I think this trade satisfied both sides, and makes sense.

Any thoughts?

i'd actually trade marbury rather than crawford.. but like most say, isiah put so much stock into marbury, to trade him would be admitting he messed up right off the bat.

I don't want to trade Marbury either. I think he will come good in NY and is one of the best pgs in the game. but we are talking about trading him for a perrenial All-star who can average 24-6-6. plus a 20-10 pf and a warm 7 ft body. We are taking advantage of circumstances in Boston. If we pass this up we will regret it forever. that deal is too much to pass up. But otherwise Marbs stays.

there is nothing wrong with marbury as a player. its just, our team is young. marbs is 28, going on 29 this year. then you are talking about the rest of our core players being 25 and younger. it just makes sense to trade him while he is in his prime and get all of your core players around the same age. By the time our youngstas become 29, reach their prime, marbs will be 32-33, declining, and probably a FA.

I hate the celtics...not only because they are the celtics and a fierce rival...but because of the types of players they have always had and continue to have.

Getting stabbed at nightclubs and running into the home crowd during a playoff game can stay in Boston.

no thanks.

Don't get me wrong...bird was a great player, but I'll take a barkley and a dr. J over a Lambier and Bird...I'll even throw in a Starks and a Anthony Mason as well.

Dr J in his prime was great, but Larry Bird is a top 5 player all time.

purely talking as a fan of hte game...I'm a sports fan, and while I respect other players abilities and accomplishments...in a pure sports sense, I hated them.

The Clemens, Joe Montana, Jordan the first 3 championships (pre-retirement...he stole our banners!!!)...umm...Red Sox (then and now and in the future) and ofcourse, the Celtics...the pats have grown on me, but that's more attributable to parcell's then to the boston area.

Just being from new york makes me think I live in the best city in the world and all others suck...

I think I got it from Woody Allen (knick fan btw)

Oh, PJ Brown..eff it, all the heat...maybe Tim Hardaway get's a pass (great commercials with Spike).

but definitely Larry legend.

Dr J in his prime was great, but Larry Bird is a top 5 player all time.

hear ya there.

I have Bird as the best forward to ever play, narrowly beating out Elgin Baylor

I have the Doctor on my 3rd team all-time.

If we trade Marbury for Pierce I'd rather do something like Marbury/Rose for Pierce/Blount. Gives us decent balance to the roster...

C: Frye, Blount
PF: Sweetney, Taylor, Lee
SF: Pierce, TT, JYD
SG: Richardsonn, Ariza
PG: Crawford, Robinson

Assuming you think Craw can play PG that is not a bad lineup. We're still a long way off from trading Marbs though.

I'll take Pierce over Marbury anyday with either Crawford or Nate starting. With a team that can flat out score like that we can get buy with a mediocre frontcourt.

That's not even a bad frountcourt IMO, just a young, unproven one. Sweetney and Frye have the potential to complent each other really well high and low. YOu have one PF with good low post potential, and a C who can play high, and shoot the ball consistently. You have an ok backup C in Blount who can play a little D, and two nice backup Forwards in Lee and Taylor who give you different looks. Meanwhile, QRich and Craw can all slash and shoot. Ariza can come in a spark/defender...Nate a spark on O.

I like Pierce, but he can't do anything that Marb cant. By the way, you are talking about marb's age, how old is Pierce and Walker????
