My crystal ball tells me its going to happen.

It makes sense, both are Georgetown products, both bring something to the table that Washington lacks, and both have very short contracts so it is minimal risk for the Wizards. Plus this kind of move could boost their attendance numbers. Next year JYD is a team option so they could opt out asnd just have a budding PF in sweets.

And it makes sense for us to have to 6-11 guys playing alongside each other in the frontcourt.

We would be an oversized team if tis was our starting lineup:

Starbury 6-2
Q 6-6
TT 6-11
Kwame 6-11
Frye 6-11

With a 2nd unit of
Crawford
Q
Ariza
Malik Rose
Frye

If i'm Washington I dont' make this deal. I gotta get a center back for Kwame. I have Haywood and no one but PF's to back him up. Plus i'm now working Blatche into a frontcourt rotation with Jamison, Jeffries and Etan Thomas. I really don't need JYD or Sweets.

None of those guys are sweets though. Sweets is a low post scorer, and offensive rebounder. He is or will be their best PF.

Blatche is years away hes like 200 pounds, he'll be in the NBDl all season long.

I dont think I would either despite the fact that Sweetney went to Georgetown. You have to think they could do better for a 23yr old #1 overall 7ft draft pick

they have Etan Thomas, who can legitimately play center like Kurt could. I agree that Sweetney is a guy who represents the sort of post up player the Wizards do not have. whether they want one is another story.

I wonder if Memphis and Washington would do a Kwame for Stro swap. That would sort of leave the Knicks out in the cold, eh?

Whew. I love Sweets and want to hang in there with his development but if i'm another team and taking a more objective look at him I'm not feeling so positive about the guy. And Wash. would be a little sensitized to bringing in yet another guy who hasn't lived up to his "potential" yet.

oh, I think Sweetney actually HAS reached his potential. I don't think he'll improve his stats per 40 minutes AT ALL. I think he'll inflate his stats with more PT, but he averaged about 9ppg and 6rpg in 22minutes last year. You flesh that out to 40 minutes and he was at about 16ppg and 10rpg for 40 minutes. I don't ever see Sweetney surpassing that. At the same time, I think that's why he's attractive, he's a young bull who produces, has a good attitude, gets to the line, rebounds very well. The only reason I'm down on him is I think he's way too small to start, he's not a great defender. If we could get a bigger starting PF I'd love to keep Sweetney to come off the bench, but I think the problem is Sweetney is our best chip to GET a starting PF this summer.

You just made my summer...I love that trade and there is no reason Washington does not love that trade...kwame will be nothing in Washington and JYD is great (you guys were all just preaching him big time) and I agree with you...JYD off the bench is all energy and all defense...WAAAAAY better than what Kwame can or will ever give them...then you throw in Sweetney with a manageable contract a nice post game and lot's of upside (to go along with his "currentside")

He scored 20 points in one quarter for the knicks (or was it a half?) anyway, this kid is ready to go beserk on a team with Jamison and the young SG.

Washington and New York should make this trade and plan on meetin in the conference finals in 07-08. Sorry, meant to say 06 - 07

Trust me sweets is way on target to be the third option Washington desires (and first option if Jamison is unavailable for any reason)

While being the next suns may sell tickets, low post offense wins championships.

And both the knicks and Wizards would be filling their last gaping hole.

all kool aid all the time.

Wow. I'm just in a different world than you guys.

To me Kwame is a bust. A loser. A write-off.

Sweets is a huge (pun intended) question mark. You're forgetting a big reason he didn't get more minutes is because he couldn't stay on the court without fouling. I'm seeing major player value inflation going on in your view of both sides of this trade.

I dont think I can take the opinion of someone who has fire Isiah in his signature, very seriously.

Nah, he's just pissed about the draft. You know he's one of the most passionate and best informed fans on this board.

Yeah but you're not seeing my other point here - if I wanted a 7-foot bust so badly I would have drafted Bynum

How I see it, Washington needs a low post threat, and sweets is that. He doesn't need the ball dumpeed down to him, he just needs to be there to get misses. I think him and Haywood compliment each other in that way, they don't need the rock, but they are all over the glass.

JYD, is the energizer off the bench, who plays tough D and does all the dirty work, they don't have a player like that. To be honest, I really don't wanna give him up, but he isn't essential to what we are trying to do, and for a shot at a young 7 footer who could flourish under Zekes guidance, I think its a worthwhile risk.
