Judging by what he has done so far, this young GM is proving to know what the hell he is doing. One thing that we can all agree on is that he wants to be successful as a GM. He has taken the time to scout and has done a hell of a job investigating on the guys that he wants to play for him. That is why I felt it was unfair and premature for the media and most of the fans here to jump on the man like that after just one year with a roster full of moribunds.

This dude made a few mistakes, but he is also willing to learn from his mistakes. He rushed to pick Lenny as his head coach, and that proved to be a huge mistake. Now that he has to make that same decision again, he has chosen to interview as many coaches as possible before picking a coach. One thing is for sure, Isiah wants a winner to teach the kids, especially the new kids that we have just drafted. As we all can see, he picked two of the biggest winners in the game (Larry Brown and Phil Jackson) to try to bring in to coach. Don't be surprised if the next coach is also a winner, a champion, Isiah has mad respect for coaches that has won both as a player and as a coach....

At the time, I wasn't sure if it was just an excuse when he said that he traded the 2004 pick in the Marbury deal because he felt that draft was weak. But it's clear now that the draft is important to him, but that he's going to go out of his way to acquire additional draft picks only when he believes the draft will be deep in talent. He'll trade away picks in exchange for good players in years when the draft is weaker. It's not a bad plan.

Zeke has earned my respect...just for taking the time to inquire about players, like taking a trip either here in the states or around the world to see and hear about a certain player speaks value

With the new 19 rule, the next few draft could all be weaker.

lets be honest. He tried to buy some guys and win right away. It blew up but he did a good job rebounding and flipping the roster with some younger guys.

I said from the day he was hired his drafting excited me the most. I dont like Frye where we got him but Ariza/Frye/Lee/Nate so far is a very good job overall, considering what he had to work with.

What REALLY scares me is the trading. Now that he has all these "assets" lets see if he can execute an ounce of patience stick with young athletic guys and a style of play that fits them

B.S...in fact the next draft will be much stronger, because the prep schools and NCAA will be able to expose the talents that they have...Scouts will not have to work that hard..

I will be very weak in the middle and bottom. Look at the last 5 drafts. Now take away any 18 yo Europlayer and all the HS kids and every draft gets weak and FAST. Hell.. Sweetney would have been the 7th pick the year we drafted.

Next year will suck... bottom line, and every GM knows it. 2007 will be back to normal, probably very deep because of all the non-eligibles from the year before

No, the 2007 draft will be stronger for the reasons you stated. The 2006 draft will suffer because there won't be any high school players.

Before everybody was killing him. "Fire Isiah" or "He's worst than Layden". All of a sudden he's God. I always supported Isiah and will continue to because I he is a basketball genius. I think in 2 years we can not only make the playoffs but contend for a title.

People are assuming the guys that would have come out at 17 and 18 will now automatically drop whatever they're doing and come out at 19. I think we have to see if that happens. I think a lot of them will be told to stay where they are for another year or two.

But the wins are about the same if not worse, and the salary situation is much worse.

So take it with a grain of salt.

Nimrod, er Simrud....the 2005-06 season hasn't occurred yet. He has given us a roster full of youth & promise. A far cry from Spoon, Ward & Eisley.

Can we just ignore the Layden vs. Isiah debates. Yes, I agree that Zeke is doing a better job than Scott, but better does not mean good. I'm going to give Isiah more time before I really worry about what we're going to do with the GM situation, but why even bring up the old lineups with Eisley/Houston/Kurt? Just enjoy the fact we're bringing in youth and what seems like an actual future.

I don't get that. The trading really scares you, but yet you've only really criticized ONE of his what 20 moves? And even that one didn't exactly kill the franchise. (Mo Taylor for an extra year just does not ruin a franchise.) As far as trades go, I think he's off to a very good start this offseason with Kurt for Q-Rich and Nate Robinson.

Look I'm not happy with the job he has done to this point. The wins haven't been there, and he was not rebuilding before.

But right now, I'm very happy that we have 7 players that should make the team under the age of 25: (Craw, Q, Sweet, Lee, Nate, Frye, Ariza). This is the happeiest I've been with Isiah since he's gotten the job. But we haven't played a game yet and 3 of those players havent played an NBA game yet. But right, I finally feel like we're moving in the right direction.

Hopefully it will be 8, counting Butler

Dude, after one year, you really can't judge the success of the Knicks. Now, after this coming season if our record doesn't improve than I will be the first to talk bad about Isiah. Right now, he is doing a hell of a good job...Zeke needs to get rid of herb, that should be his next big move..
