Get a new team doctor instead! This new clause in the agreement will NOT allow houstons contract to b taken off the salery cap... All it will do is save dolan some money in luxery tax which means nothing 2 us as fans.... So wat the hell is the point? Release him for wat? Just because? At least keeping him if he even gets remotely healthy we have a veteran playoff performer who can come in and space the floor with his 3 point range.... Especially valuable if q or jc get injured.... It makes no sense to release houston... I really hope isiah realises this... If we do he'll end up on detroit and get back to his old form and prolly burn us in the playoffs alongside mcdyess laughing at our team doctor the whole way

I'll miss Allan. He was never great, but was very good for a long time. I was hoping he would retire and walk away with some dignity. but it looks like he's going to force the Knicks' hand in cutting him. A shame, but as fish said it is business. 40mm matters alot to the bottom line, especially with empty arenas at playoff time.

I agree with Elite--IF Houston can play why release him? We are paying his salary anyway you look at it. He still has a beautiful shot and is one the purest shooters in the league, stash him on the bench and bring him in for some spot up threes.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

That 40 mm in luxary tax means a lot to James Dolan and James Dolan only. It doesn't come off the salary cap. He is still a gagillionaire. Houston could be a real big help come playoff time and we're still paying him 40 MM for not being on the team. Hello, we're already doing that to Shandon Anderson. We did it with LJ and Luc Longley too, if I am not mistaken.

I don't think you realize that even to a billionaire like Dolan, 40 million dollars is STILL alot of money. H20 is a goner.

As fans it could open up cash for him to make other moves, like buying a pick in this draft. Thats how it couldmake a difference! Cutting H20 also creates a roster space for that extra pick, althoug I would draft a project and shove him in the NBDL to get his game up.

Cutting Houston DOES NOT open up more salary space.

You release so you can free up a roster spot for a younger player.

how do you know he CAN play? he "supposedly" could play last year and the year before. if you could save 40mil, and clear a roster spot for one of your 3 picks, why not do it? besides we have sufficient outside shooters, particularly now with q. (and those shooters can actually jump too.

Fawtty million dollar vs. keeping allan? I am so supportive for allan and if he did not have such connections to god I would pray for him to get better and play.

But God Loves Dolan too!

Allan gets to be a free agent, make some extra money for a new team, a contender I suppose, and still collect all of his "FAWTTY MILLION"!

Life is good for Allan. Dolan gets to not pay the tax. Now I hate Dolan as much as anyone, but a dollar is a dollar and FAWTTY MILLION is a lot of them!

Yes, but do you want Bruno Sundov or Houston at 75%?

Keep Houston or cut him, we pay the same and don't save anything--we only save in theory in light of the last CBA.

More like 50%. I just don't see him being what he used to be again.

you save $40M in luxury tax cash. It's real and it buys a LOT of chips and dip.

Easy. We are paying him $40 million dollars either way, we might as well have him earn some of that money.
