Word is Orlando might cut him, how would you guys feel if we picked him up?? I wouldnt mind it, even though he is getting old he is still a better defender than pretty much anyone we have on our team right now

if we draft Bynum(not even considering french frye) and not Granger or Graham I wouldn't mind picking up Doug. having the 20yr old Ariza as our on perimeter is a very scary thought. I know Doug is old but there are not many perimeter defenders out there who you can get for cheap.

Doug won't even play. If we don't draft Granger or Graham I'm gonna pray to God Ariza becomes our starting SF & one of the best perimeter defenders in the game!

Pass.

I thought Orlando was nuts to make that deal in the first place.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ariza will develop into some sort of facsimile of Josh Howard of the Mavs--- long, scrappy, do-it-all kind of guy. That'd be sweet.

As much as offense seems important, it also seems pretty important for teams to keep a scrappy defensive stopper in their main rotation...

that was a terrible trade. They gave up the much younger and better player in Cuttino. They could've gotten more but with that said Doug was a pretty good player not too long ago in Sac. If we can fill out the roster with someone younger and better GREAT! but we need some resemblence of perimeter D on this team!

Good point, guns. If we don't draft a wing player and build up a team capable of contending in the East (right now we would have to add a couple of C's to have it) then sign this guy as a defensive stopper...

Thing is, I think giving him minutes will hurt us more than it will help. He isn't the same defensive player he once was at his age. However he is currently better than Penny and the currently inexperienced tweener Ariza on defensive so Isiah should give it some thought.

Why the hell would Christie want to sign with us? We are the same team that put him in the doghouse when he was here. He probably still gets nightmares thinking about what his life would have been if he remained a Knick. If he came to this team he would not even start. If he is going to be benched, he might as well play on a title team.

If Doug had stay on the Knicks he would have been another Lavon Postell. His career would have been over. He probably would have h played Slamball or be the CBA most wanted.

You bring up a good point- whenever I watched him play on Sacramento- I thought, wow, we had this guy and no one had a clue.

Even this year, Sweets & Ariza got no time- is there some curse on the Knicks that they can't develop young players? I mean, since Ewing, who have we ever developed that was young when we had him?

exactly and people are so quick to label Sweetney a bust. It is that attitude towards young players that makes me hatethis organization.

At what age does Doug Christie stop having the ability to play "Perimiter defense" at an NBA level? Even at some point, Shaq stops having the ability to dominate inside the paint.

Well, doesn't he?

Noone wants to see Doug Christie on the Knicks. Trust me on this one.

If Isiah was to call Doug up right now, I don't think Christie would even pick up the phone. Even if Doug did pick up the phone he probably would curse Isiah out for suggesting he comeback to the Knicks. That's like a guy being released from prison and returning back on his own to do an extra 5 year bid.

Assuming Christie is released, I think he would have a bigger issue with playing for a lottery than the knicks- I think when he was hear, it was a lot of different people involved.

I wouldn't mind having Christie on the team, its just I think we have a lot more bigger problems elsewhere to try to patch up.

Perimeter D needs to get fixed by Q, Marbs & Craw because they're going to be getting the minutes.

We don't need anymore rejects.....I wanted Christie last season because we were in a heap of trouble, but not this next season, especially if Houston gets release.

yeah thats what I was saying either we need to draft a great 2-way SF like Granger or Graham or we need to build a massive frontline of Bynum and trade up for Taft

I was thinking the same thing. What is this:

Lets start a thread for the player in the league that we least need on our roster?

I''m gonna start one about Tractor Traylor.
