IIRC, the Knicks tried to get Taylor from the Clippers back when Ewing was on the team and Grunfeld was the GM. Of course, his potential was worth more then.

no one wants a three year contract at $8+ mil per for a guy who rides the pine.

We sent 2 contracts ending next yr worth $8mm. Both players are ok 3rd string back-ups.

We get M. Taylor who's only contribution would be his post up offense. He is horrible in robounding, defense, and lacks heart. And we're paying him $19mm for the next 2 season.

Not only we didn't get a pick from Houston for dumping this awful player/contract and getting back 2 of next yr's ending contracts (a saving of $11mm for Rockets), but we gave away OUR possibly very high 2nd round pick.

If we are rebuilding like Isiah says, what was the reason for adding Taylor???????? Wouldn't we be better off just letting these 2 contracts expire or use them as a part of bigger trade involing TT/Penny's contract this summer?

I think we would have been ok with the front line of:
KT / Rose / Sundov
Sweetney / Rose / Baker

My 12 yr old naphew thinks this Houston deal is messed up. What positives could Isiah possibly see in this deal? Someone, please explain...

I thought Isiah was a smart & cunning SOB, but I think he is just a dumb-ass who is a natural at deceiving others.

I give it an F.

Mo Taylor is a piece of garbage. We gave up lesser deals and a second rounder for an undersized scrub at a position we're already overstocked at. F for planning, F for talent. This deal made ZERO sense, unless, again, the idea is to tank on purpose.

Plus, we helped Houston for no reason!

I would've given it an F--, but that wasn't an option.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If we didn't include the pick, I'd say a D move.

I'd rather have sent KT for Mo & Houston's #1 pick this year- something of that ilk- and I have a hard time believing Houston wouldn't have loved getting KT.

Again Tsylor's contract expires after 2007. Allan Houston(who by the way makes 20 million dollars PER YEAR) also expire after 2007 which means that will be gone by the 2006 offseason or the 2007 trade deadline or maybe even sooner as the closer their contracts get to expiring the more value they have!

Taylor is better than sweetney:

Led L.A. Clippers in scoring in both the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons
Named to 1997-98 All Rookie Second Team
Has career highs of 34 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 4 steals.

I'd package sweets and Kurt for a shot blocking big right now and with rose and Mo T we contend.
all kool aid all the time.

Is Far inferior to

Rose is Yin to Mo's Yan

I don't understand why Zeke would trade Baker if he knew he was trading Nazr. Trading two centers makes no sense.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

because Baker is not a center which is the reason he wasn't playing. Kurt Thomas plays better defense than him at center and thats just sad

Anybody who really thinks Taylor is better then any of the PF's we have is a complete moron.

He plays no defense, he does not rebound, and he shoots 43 percent as a big. Thats terrible.

Even his meaningless numbers of like 6 years ago came on a terrible Cipper team.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

by the way Taylor is a career 47% FG shooter almost. Not 43

most guys who are in the dog house and have their minutes decreased struggle uncharacteristly from the field.

With that said...Taylor right now is 5th on the Big man depth chart

i look at Rose as being a key player to the chemistry of this team as well as JYD.

and I look at Maurice Taylor as a nice trade asset because of his contract which ends after 2007, the same year as H20's

and as nyk4ever will tell you, Kurt Thomas is a really tough match up for opposing centers who hate defending the perimeter and the pick and roll. And Kurt's unathletism isn't exposed as much guarding big and slower gus. He can camp out in the post and do what he does best, not great but admirable, post defense.

of course Shaq, Yao, Duncan Z and company will have a field day against the Knicks so we obviously still desperately need an allstar center if we;re going to get over the hump. But for now this is a lot more watchable then having to watch Nazr Mohammed try to defend and post up.

I gave it a c. We gave up a late 2nd round pick which is basically useless and two players who are basically useless. So even if Taylor doesn't do much, this trade didn't hurt us. I can't understand why people are getting so worked up about losing Vin Baker, Moochie and a late 2nd round pick.

Wasn't mooch done this year? Vin only makes 3.5 mil per year?

Why is Taylors contract so appealing? Would it not have been cheaper to just buy out Vin if he is so bad? The key must be not his 2007 expiring contract? Is it?

Kind of like when a docter checks your prostate. It feels good when he pulls his finger out of your ass, but would it not feel better if he did not have to stick it in to begin with? (relax fellas, I stole that line and adapted it from an old Richard Lewis stand up act). Better to not have a big expiring deal on a marginal player than to jsut look forward to it expiring?

This trade must be evaluated based on Mo T's play on the court. Not a cap thing. Or, they really missed Moochie!
