Time to re-evaluate the start Sweetney calls. Who should start at PF?

I say Sweetney because I think he not only has more upside than Kurt but also is better RIGHT NOW than Kurt. I included Vin and JYD just to make the list complete but there's no reason to start either of them at PF. As long as other team's PF/Cs keep shooting 55% against Kurt, he shouldn't be starting when we have a talented 22 year old.

We're free falling in the standings, maybe a line up change would be good for us, get both Ariza and Sweets in there.
Atleast Herb appears to have made it a point to get Sweetney the ball.

Its not important who starts, its who finish's.

Sweets got inability to play 38-40 min due to foul prone, and conditioning.

I voted Mike, if for no other reason, given the same minute as KT, he will at least equal his pts and rebounds and will get to the line alot more, and maybe because he actually has a post game, maybe he will demand a double team every now and then.

I agree that Sweets started to look tired last night. Part of it is he can't play that pace for too long. I'd like to see Sweets and Kurt both get around 30 minutes a night. Nazr too. I love JYD, but if we're really taking a look at players who can help us or who we want to trade, JYD doesn't come into it. He also kills us on offense.

Sweetney needs to start, JYD needs to back him up, & KT needs to be traded.

I voted for Kurt cause he is better than Sweets right now.

Sweets still doesn't know how to play D.

As long as he is getting 30 minutes a game, who cares whos starts?

The game against the bucks, Sweets played 37 minutes over the past few he is only getting about 20 per.....KT is at like 35 minutes per......I agree, it's the minutes that matter and not the starts, but I think Sweets needs to get "starters minutes"....I mean he is doing everything KT doesn't do and he is also putting up some pretty good numbers in less than a half's worth of minutes.

IF Sweets were not a foul a minute guy every other game, I would say starter minutes too, but he makes dumb fouls.

I agree, but there is only one waty for him to learn IMO and that nis by making him play and defend. If he doesn't learn how to not foul, at the very least he may learn to play with 4 or 5 fouls...

I'm just a throw a young player to the wolves type of guy....I don't want someone who isn't strong enough to at least TRY to hold their own, which I think we all know Sweets can do.

I hear that.

BTW, what's with his girth anyway? Is he not a professional
athletic? Why don't they chain his azz to an exercise bicycle?!

there is something to say about earning a spot. It's not really fair to KT to bench him JUST to give Sweets the minutes at the beginning of the game. Heck if Sweets can't show that he can improve against the opponents bench, he is NOT going to do it versus starters.

I think Sweets has improved the the point where he has earned it, though...that is just my opinion, though...

trade KT for Ruben Patterson & POR's 1st round pick.

C - Nazr / Baker / Sundov
PF - Sweetney / JYD
SF - Ariza / TT
SG - Crawford / Patterson
PG - Marbury / Brewer / Moochie
IR - Houston / Penny

I don't think Portland would give up a likely lottery pick just to get Kurt

If I ran the Blazers, I wouldn't give up any picks (1st or 2nd round) to get Kurt to be Zach's backup PF.

i've seen countless "trade KT to the Spurs for Malik & their 1st rounder" for the past several months on this forum...this isn't even a new trade either, because i've seen it discussed & analyzed on this board several times before...i happen to think it makes sense...a blind man can see that our perimeter defense is about the worst in the NBA...whatever happened to those solid defensive stats that you came up with for Marbury? i guess u didn't see Steve Nash blowing by him almost every possession last night? those types of things don't show up on the stat sheets...we need help on guarding the perimeter...KT can't even step out to challenge a 3 pointer by Jim Jackson because he's so damn slow footed just about any other player will blow right past him for an easy layup if he did.
