Poll from MSGnetwork.com. I found it an interesting question. What was the biggest New York acquisition in 2004?

wow, tough choices. It's like you have to go with which team/sport you follow the most.

All comes down to Marbury and A-Rod if you ask me.

A-Rod w/o a doubt
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

OK. I admit it. I picked Eli. I am the same schmo that would pick the Jints on the weekly football pool if the Jints were playing the number 1 team in football during the Ray Handley era.

the only team that has been affected by any of these acquistions, so far, is the knicks with marbury. they are dramatically better. eli will be the best choice, but in the future when he reaches his potential. arod was good in the playoffs, but he didnt take the yanks any further than they usually get. jagr...... hockey? whats that. hes old and done with, the longer the lockout, the closer to retirement he gets. i dont know how pedro can be on that list, he was just acquired and has yet to play.

Wouldn't Martinez be considered a 2005 aquisition.

A-Rod w/o a doubt

If they had won a World Series and he had been a big part of it, sure he would've been the biggest. But he did nothing great for NY last year, and that image of him using his hand to throw the ball out of a Red Sox to reach first base just to get something going keeps popping in my mind. He was nothing special, and he has yet to become a Yankee after all what happened. A-Rod? Grrr! I still can't believe they choked so ugly! Disgusting....

Of all, I really think that the biggest addition was Marbury because it changed dramatically the face and the character of the team. Immediately after he was acquires the Knicks were a different thing; he had the biggest impact. He helped the team reach the playoffs and has them in that same direction this year, lets just hope they can get more consistent. The Knicks became a serious team again after he was acquired, and in some years we could say that thanks to that first move NY became a champion in basketball again.

Eli is still young. He represents a great future for the Giants but we have yet to see that. We'll see donw the road, but for 2004, he isn't there yet. Pedro? Why is he on that list? He has yet to pitch for a NY team, and thanks God that it will be for the Mets. A-Rod? Don't talk to me about him, yet...

good point Knicksfan, i was thinking the same thing. steph changed things completely, but the yanks were already assembled when a-rod got there. plus martinez is'nt going to get them anywhere w/out help, and eli needs time. apparently LOTS of time.

Randy Johnson should be on this poll!! I've heard mixed reports about whether the deal is final. That's probably why he's not on the MSG poll.

Well the poll was right after Pedro was announced, so even if the deal did go through for Johnson, it would have still been too early.
