Not a Simmons lover either but thinking about our bigs — Mitch health, Kat defensive issues, our overall inability to dribble/pass and I start to think Simmons could be a solid bench guy with size, rebounding, D and some passing.

Could play next to Kat, Yabu and OG as a back-up 5.

Simmons is an interesting choice. Can that back hold up??? We don't need him to be at his best old self. Just a 15 min defensive stopper and ball handler.
We know he can't shoot. Just no "Charles Smith" if it comes to that.
We'd love a come back story and plenty of receipts to collect from Philly and Doc in Milwaukee.
Can't say I love the guy but I thought Doc was out of line throwing him under the bus.

Who knows exactly, but I’ve read many variations where it’s a 2nd Rd signing for either Diawara or Nnaji and a veteran minimum like Shamet, Simmons, etc. McCullar would be a 2-way signing along with maybe Dink Pate, and the remaining of Diawara or Nnaji being stashed.

We don't have any draft rights to Nnaji. How would you stash him and retain his draft rights? He's raw as heck. I think next step for him is a camp invite and they a likely 2 way because he is a physical specimen.

Beauchamp is likely sticking around also but last chance for him to show that he belongs. He's another 2 way.

Because we are up against the apron and are limited to one vet min an d one 2nd rd rookie We have a choice to make. Diawara fits into the rookie exception so unless we sign someone who is cut by another team he is that guy but it will start with a camp invite. Diawara looks like he has a high ceiling based on his physical gifts so I see him sticking around.

McCuller as a vet min has a tougher road. His best bet to stick around is as a 2 way. I'm not confident that he won't test free agency. He wanted a roster spot with the big Knicks last season and at 24 his runway is short to make an impression. His biggest problem is that he has an easily replaceable skillset. He needs to become a better shooter of the basketball and stay healthy. Personally I prefer a vet guard with the vet min with a proven nbc track record who can handle the ball. Marcus Smart, Westbrook, Brogdon, Lillard. I'm not sure what Delon Wright's status is but I would throw him in the mix as well as Shamet. McCuller's only real path with the Knicks is another 2 way.

We do. Nnaji was drafted by Charlotte a few years ago and traded to NY.

Holding out hope Knicks could make some deal to land a legit big SG to take some ball handling off Brunson but still score/defend.
