Which do you prefer ? Both carry similar contracts for one more season after this. Similar size. Brogdon is more of a lead guard but brown has PG experience and sort of fits the do-it-all role Hart also has. Both can play minutes at multiple positions. Brogdon can score but is older and more injury prone. Value/ cost is probably similar. Fournier plus grimes and/or some draft compensation. Without grimes it’s probably a more valuable first round pick. With grimes it’s probably no pick or a lower value first round pick or seconds. Obviously we can’t overpay. Both players are proven in bench roles. 2 of the very best 6th men last season. Brown is CAA and Knicks liked him this summer. Brogdon is Klutch but Knicks have a good trading history with Portland (hart trade.) just seem like both players make the most sense for how the Knicks operate trade wise.

I think Brogdon is the better fit on the 2nd unit. I don’t know what Brown’s role would be. Brogdon is already an elite sixth man so just plug and play

We already have a player like Brown and we need a player like Brogdon so this choice is easy.

Brogdon is probably a better fit. Brown’s role I think would be similar to hart but he’s more of a combo guard whereas hart is more of a true wing. Brown does handle the ball and get to the rim. He’s not a perfect fit but he’s still a fit given his 2-way ability. He would be a thibs guy.

I guess McBride is purely a depth signing? We STILL have too many guards. Brogdon replacing Grimes AND McBride in the rotation is a solid move. He's simply a very good player. Was close to all star caliber before getting hurt a lot. Still a great high IQ player. A 3 man bench of MB, Hart and ideally a better big than Precious but maybe Mitch comes back late in the post season.

Brogdon is a really nice add and upgrades the bench. He's locked in for next year also. Very good add and ideally we draft someone to take his place after next year.

Murray is an impact player on both ends. Running out Brunson/Murray/OG/Jules/Hart is starting to look more and more like a team that can compete for the finals

We definitely don’t have too many guards. We have a thin 9-man rotation with no shot creation off the bench. McBride was essentially paid to be a 9th man. When the rotation was too tight pre-trade it was because everyone was used to big minutes. Grimes also struggles when his minutes are limited. McBride seems to excel in his 12 or so mpg. If we traded for Brogdon or brown they would essentially occupy grimes minutes but actually cut into Brunson and OGs minutes slightly in a positive way. They can keep Brunson, OG and Randle to 35-36 mpg. DDV, Hart and the new acquisition would all be in their proper 24-26 mpg, and McBride would fill out the rotation for the remaining 12-14 mpg. Whether it’s McBride or in previous seasons Toppin, that 9 man has always directly backfilled for 1 position and played about 12-14 mpg. It’s just so important we get back to having a strong bench and either Brogdon or brown helps us do that with slightly different roles.

What I like about Brown is his very recent championship experience, his role in helping Denver win. Thats no small thing. He's also younger than Brogdon.

Knicks would have a 2024-25 team option on Brown. If he turns out to be a big difference maker, we can either keep him and take the cap hit, or trade him to another contender in a bigger deal. Or just cut him if it doesnt work out.

Brogdon has been dealing with injuries all season, at the stage in a PG's career where it becomes more common.

I like both guys (especially always liked Brown) but I chose neither. My prediction is the Knicks FO will end up doing something more under-stated like trading with Detroit for Burks and Gallo trading Evan, Sims and some 2nd rounders. Burks knows Thibs system and add offensive punch and Gallo brings in a true back-up PF to spell Randle. Both on expiring contracts.

if we made that trade that would be our team, we wouldn't have contracts to match for a star later on.

Both of these guys are quality players but I’m just not that excited by either. I think these are players you acquire when finalizing your roster. We need one more race horse before we shift focus to this IMHO

Brown does not solve the 2nd ballhandler void. His game is very similar to Hart's.

I disagree that this has to be the deal to finalize the roster. My guess is that deal will involve most of our first round picks. Dont see the FO going for broke with Brown.

A deal for an elite player would probably involve most of our first rounders, and one or more starters. Im hoping thats put off until the offseason. A deep run will be the best advertisement for stars looking for a change of scenery.

One team Im wondering about are the Suns. Their stars cant stay on the court together. A bad showing, and you have to wonder how long before the new owner decides to cash in his stars, for 1st round draft picks, and young talent.

The only player I wouldnt mind supplanting Devo right now is Booker. I believe he's skilled enough to make a big three work.

Brogdon really is a solid and tough minded player - limited speed/quickness now but tough and big time open shot threat + great FT shooter.

Would completely control 2nd unit and could unlock Grimes possibly.

I also like that he has played with Celtics, Pacers, Bucks - so maybe some extra motivation against these teams in big series.

but his trade value would just be his contract, he'd be a negative asset overall just like Fournier.

Yes, true at least for this season trade deadline and not sure what star you are referring to....I don't think the Knicks will pick up Evan's option so it will likely be a wash in the offseason.

Brogdon out of those 2. Brown looked like a borderline NBA player in the game against Toronto. Our 2nd unit needs an offensive punch. We need to distribute the ball. Ideally it would not be an ISO guy as the 6 th man but a playmaker. DDV doesn't fit our bench for that reason, he thrives off of kickouts and for that you need a playmaker. Like the ones we have X2 in the starting lineup but none in the 2nd unit.

Don't want him. DDV provides more of what's needed in the SL (3point %) While neither is a good fit from the bench. DDV off the bench needs a creator which we have none of in the 2nd unit while an All&Star DJM I doubt wants a bench role. Even tho he would be ideal for a bench role for us. Even more than what we need from a lead guard from the bench.
