He's 30 years old and still in his prime as a...

•2x NBA Championship (2x Finals MVP).

• 5x NBA All-Star.

• 3x All-NBA First Team.

• 2x All-NBA Second Team.


Etc.

But imo what makes him a dream scenario is Tom Thibs because Kawhi Leonard is an animal on the defensive end of the court as a former 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 3x NBA All-Defensive First Team, 4x NBA All-Defensive Second Team and a 1x NBA steals leader.

We're already featuring the NBA's #1 Defense after only 1 year under coach Tom Thibs so if we're to land a Kawhi Leonard? Our NY Defense immediately becomes 1990's type in regards to only averaging 80-90 points per game moving forward.

We have the cap space, young talented youth and future draft picks so sign me up 100%. He'd become A+ and immediately turn us into instant Eastern Conference contenders.

Last but not least, he's declined LAC's extension offer and has now agreed to talk with other teams come Free Agency starting later today.

Many athletes fully recover from ACL's these days so I couldn't care less I want Kawhi Leonard so bad.


Starting 5:
C: Mitchell Robinson.
PF: Julius Randle.
SF: Kawhi Leonard.
SG: R.J. Barrett.
PG: Immanuel Quickley.


Bench:
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
PG: Miles McBride.

I'd still look to upgrade our PG position but that's a starting 5 I can really look forward to watching throughout the regular season and especially come playoff time along with some younger kids to develop off the bench.

Of course I want him, he fits any roster and is the very definition of an all around player who can focus on any area of the game to overcome the weak points of your roster. But I just dont see it.

If you want to pay a guy for playing 30% of your games next yr (will missed a chunk of next season recovering from acl surgery)

just Not interested in Kawhi for no 40 mill and his right up there with the most injured star in the NBA

if we could sign him, retain Rose and maybe some of our other FA (Bullock?), then honestly, how do you not?

How long was he playing on 1 leg? He just about carried the clippers.

He doesn't cost us anything but future potential to make a signing, and in the next 2 years, exactly who would we be signing?

He just turned down LAC's contract extension and had now made it known to the public that he's going to test Free Agency.

New York Knicks have the #1 amount of available salary cap space and no team can offer him as much as NYC can.

Holy moly. If Kawhi is interested you figure it out. He may be out until February. Maybe the season. But I’d wait a year to have him. No question. Not even a modicum of doubt. Do it.

I think we'd immediately have more team chemistry than Brooklyn.

Because Kyrie, Harden and K.D always need the ball in their hands to be productive.

That's not the case with NY because I believe a trio of R.J, Kawhi and Julius 3 dogs who just want to WIN becomes magical.

And there are two things we'd have that Brooklyn lacks. 1.) Mitchell Robinson @ Center and 2.) An elite and I mean an ELITE DEFENSE!

You think our NBAs #1 Defense under Thibs year #1 was pretty good? Wait until 2x Defensive Player of the Year on the wings in Kawhi Leonard joins. Forget about it. We're talking 1990's NY Defense while only allowing 80/90 points (MAX) per game!

Literally, NY would erupt. Poor KD & Harden and Flat Earther in Brooklyn would be second fiddle to a player rehabbing for the better part of the year.

Of course, as NY fans, we'll never got something that good!

But rationally, I totally see tremendous upside if I were Leonard to signing here- maybe I am jaded.

I think this team needs a real PG more than anything from a fit standpoint. But if we can get Kawhi as a free agent I think we gotta do it. If there is an option for signing him that would be an offer we can't refuse
