Lets say we have to send Mitchell Robinson away in any deal with New Orleans or in a three-team deal.

Is it a risk you would take?

No - I love watching Mitchell Robinson too much

Yes - Mitchell would see fewer minutes anyway and AD is better

No. Not for the sake of gutting the team, AGAIN... Oh, KD is not coming

Fortunately or unfortunately, David Griffin's ridiculous demands mean it probably won't come to that. But I think I would do it.

Yes, obviously. Mitchell Robinson's best case scenario is Anthony Davis. You know who is already as good as Anthony Davis? Anthony Davis. And he's only 26 years old.

If we land no free agents, I have no interest in AD. Do you know what the best case scenario is for a depleted team(because we traded most of our assets) and AD? Mediocrity or bad and no playoffs. Sound familiar?

It doesn't sound familiar because we've never had a superstar and about $70 million worth of cap space to spend. I'm more of a proponent of building through the draft BUT I think there is a viable path to contention with a guy like Anthony Davis in the fold. He's young enough and has a contract cheap enough to allow us to buy our way to a competitive team over the next two seasons. And my thinking is emboldened by the fact that Giannis is set to hit free agency in a few seasons, which makes having Davis in the fold that much more appealing.

If the Pelicans are willing to give us both Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday for our current asset base, I'd do it and then play the waiting game for Giannis.

Is he gonna play by himself? That's who's gonna be left...

....$70 million of cap space would suggest he'd have some decent players around him in a weaker conference.....

One star and decent players doesn’t even guarantee the playoffs. Mortgaging everything for AD while fishing for Giannis is poor business.

NO

bc it shouldn't have to take including him

don't be like the mets and overpay

if we do include Mitch w/ everything else, we need more back than AD

So far Robinson is just a shot blocker, nothing else. Davis can do it all! But I wouldn't gut the team for him.

This Durant situation changes a lot for us. While he was still a long shot, he still represented the most attainable free agent on the market. That seems to be off the table now.

Kawhi remains a mystery as he could stay in Toronto, bolt to the seemingly preferred Clippers or surprise going to Brooklyn or New York. You can get him? YOU DO and then think of another veteran piece to surround him with, in my case I would get Thompson. If you land them both, you COULD consider a trade for AD, although to be honest, I'd rather balance those two stars with young pieces like the ones we have.

Now, if you can't get Kawhi, why make any move at all for AD? You would gut your team from all assets just to get star that while a top talent, is still an injury concern and you would still need to find another star to justify the move.

If KD is off the table and Kawhi doesn't sign here, continue with the slow rebuild. Draft Barrett, do your best in the second round, purchasing picks market and the undrafted market, and go from there. If you can't land the free agent top stars to justify a move for the now, keep moving towards the future.

If you watch him play and think he is only a shot blocker and nothing else, then I am sorry but you don’t know much about basketball.

In the East it does (see Blake and the Pistons; Giannis and the Bucks).

I love Knick fans.

Mitchell Robinson is divine and he's perfect right now.

AD is 26 and a top 5 player and a two way player. If Barrett and Robinson are key pieces for AD so be it. While it would hurt to say goodbye to the young talent it would cost us that would quickly be mitigated when you see AD in a Knick uni.

If that was it, I might be ok with it. But that's not enough. Need a third team and that third team will want draft picks....so will NO. Plus additional players. In summary, you will have two teams sucking the blood from the knicks, just to land AD. Watch AD put up 30 and 20 all season, while barely making the playoffs, and getting knocked out in the first round.
VS
Build up the youth...and some talent. And let the youth gain experience from being knocked out of the first round.

With KD's injury, who was the main person linked to NY, it puts a damper on things now.

Knicks can make the deal themselves. NO has limited options. The fair package would be:
DSjr, Knox, Lance contract, Mitch and 3 pick and one of the Dallas picks. Thats 3 young players, cap relief (we take back more $ than we give) and 2 FRP, one being #3 in this draft.

That puts Knicks in a great spot moving forward.

Berman already reported last week, the knicks won't think twice to add Mitch in any trade...

What does Homegrown talent get you in today's NBA..
