Here's an attempt to fill the void of new Knicks reading material.

2004-2005 New York Knicks

1 Stephon Marbury G 6-2 205
2 Allan Houston G 6-6 200
3 Tim Thomas F 6-10 240
4 Kurt Thomas F 6-9 235
5 Nazr Mohammed C 6-10 250

6 Jamal Crawford G 6-5 190
7 Anfernee Hardaway G-F 6-7 215
8 Vin Baker F 6-11 250
9 Mike Sweetney F 6-8 260
10 Jerome Williams F-C 6-9 206
11 Moochie Norris G 6-2 188
12 Shandon Anderson G-F 6-6 210

IR Trevor Ariza F 6-7 194
IR Bruno Sundov C 7-2 260
IR Jamison Brewer G 6-4 184

Strengths: Deep rotation, ballhandling, shooting, Capable rebounding, tradable assets

Weaknesses: Post scoring, interior defense, transition defense, inconsistency

Keys to the Season: Ball Distribution, Emergence of Solid Post player, Defense, Road Trips

My guess: Decent 42-46

NY is average without stellar play at the (4/5 position).

i look at it this way, anything under 41 wins is a dramatic disaster with a 103,000,000 payroll. If we end up with less than 41 wins, the team shouldve been rebuilt through the draft. While we want to give Isiah time--atleast 2 years+ before coming to any conclusion[----he has spent as much and made as many moves as GMs make in 4-5 years}. We should be in that 42-46 win bracket--i have guessed 43, but there is a downside there to 38.

Anything less than 500. would be very bad. We don't have much upside unless this team comes together and lives up to its potential. There is common thread that these guys have the last big contracts of their lives and what do they want to be remembered for?

So my hope is there is a unity thing that can happen and 52 games is possible!

Then there is the paranoia that Steph and Craw start getting territorial and leaving their scent on the floor, while 'Gazy is looking Macho, Moochie is sniffing glue in the corner, Sweet's gets traded for Mo taylor straight up, Allan stays hurt, Penny is our go to guy again, Nazr morphs into Orthella, Vin starts pounding Wine coolers, and kurt starts drinking Cafine and scaring the children!
Lenny is fired by the break and Mark Aquire starts intimidating his bench and they are as scared as oweing Oak some money!

32 wins! That is my fear. A big thud. We have the 3rd overall pick, but Isiah trades it for himself and attempts a ego encrusted comeback.

Bobby Knight gets a 6 mil 5 year contract to coach, and Craw vomits every game while Knight talks to him. Aguire is in Rikers Island for pimping out Azira and shooting heroine with Vin!

Marbs? He invested in a club and shot up the place. "say hellow to my Lil' Frien!"

By seasons end Isiah is arrested for insider trading. He short sold his Cablevision stock after phoning in false bomb threats. He also was caught doing a midget when the circus came to town.

Oak is named GM, and Shug Knight is named president of operations.

Oak becomes real tight with Dolan, real tight. Dolan sits when he pee's in the presence of Oak. Dolan sells 5% of the team to Russian mafia. Dolan sits with Oak when the wolves visit and Spree is very nice to him. Oak pays Spree a visit the night before and settle everything. Dolan is very grateful to Oak. Toss salad is now part of dolans day.

I'm gonna be a little on the optimistic side and say about 47-50 and with that record we should definitely win the Atlantic Div

the tough part of getting to 45+ wins is we dont have any player on our frontline who would be considered a top 12-15 ranking. Is Nazr a top 12 C NO KT a top 12 PF NO TT a top 12 SF NO we may have the number 1 PG but dont you win in the nBA with big men? Like I said Sweetney is very important to this team and Im counting on him in my 43 win equation. If there is some kind of meltdown like nolad's adventure above--we will not be meeting expectations. Mike has to play somewhat close to what he did in SL Nazr needs to play consistent, we cant afford a vin baker mental letdown and our starters KT and h2O are 32 and 33 and arent excatly going to be speeding up and down the court. I just dont know what to expect--im thinking optomistic, but things have to pan out.

Who is Nalod - Elmore Leonard???? That had me literally LOL.

I'm going with the solid - up to 50 wins. We gotta go for the balance - the athletes with the position guys. Everybody rebounds, everybody D's. We have the potential for any of 5 or 6 guys to be the offensive star on a given night. Plus of course Oak's contributions, as outlined above.

52 Wins. Weak division, weak conference. Look for Steph to have a few injuries due to international play. He'll have a career year, though. New year, same old sig...
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Regular season wins aside, barring injuries the Knicks need to at least get to the second round of the playoffs for the season to be a success IMO.It will be an improvement over the last few years and will demonstrate that they are headed in the right direction.I can see them going farther than that but the 2nd round is the minimum for me.

I think they will clear the first round of the playoffs without a problem. I really hope they run Stephon and Jamal in the backcourt to start the games. I want to see Houston and Jamal play in the back too. The bench looks really deep. I like Nazr a lot. I think he is a good center. We should be OK this season.

Let's say NY does win Atl, with Miami, and Pacers winning their divisions respectfully... (We have to assume a lot).

Mock Playoff Seeding

1.indiana
2.miami
3.ny
4.detroit
5.philadelphia
6.cleveland
7.washington
8.boston
---------------
nj
toronto
new orleans
milwaukee
orlando
chicago
atlanta
charlotte

I'm guessing, but NY would face any of these teams (cleveland, philadelphia, washington, toronto, milwaukee). With the first round being best of 7, I don't see NY sweeping any of them because of NY's history of being a poor road team.

As a side note, I think the East has improved a lot this year.

I am honored you would even consider me with any literary talent. A good rant from time to time is all I got. These forums are for fun and entertainment. Too serious at times!

Ditto! In addition they need to be over .500. I'm optimistic they'll have a solid year 45-48 wins.
