I don't see how he opts out of his last year. Because I hope to god we're not extending him further!

I guess it depends on what other teams cap situation looks like then - the Cleveland, the Clippers of the world - is he able to sign for 2 years, $30M? Maybe he does that, but still - I don't see any team giving him near max money for one year, let alone multiple years, at his age.

But Mils will be here forever so will Dolan.
Corporations do not keep useless assets. They have no use for loyalty.
Melo is actively being forced out using Phil but by direct request of Dolan and MSG.
How else it can be?
Melo will stick for the rest of the season but I doubt any longer.
