As a Nugget whom he spend just over 7 and a half seasons as and went to conf. finals as a member of.

With Knicks, whom he just completed 5 seasons with and one playoff series win but lead league in scoring. He stays and knicks continue with him.

Or, if traded this off season to a contender who he might get to a conf. finals or better but as a complimentary player, not
"His" team. Thats not a knock by the way. Just reality if he is traded to Miami, Cleveland or Clippers. His statistics will likey drop.

Melo can retire tomorrow with stats that get him in the HOF so its not really debatable but the question is what uniform does he go in as?

He's going to finish top ten, maybe top 6 or 7 ALL TIME in points.

That is a ludicrous statement.

does the basketball HOF work like that (note there is no NBA HOF)? MLB it does, NFL it does not.

He will be the HOF one day...
It will take time but it's a bunch of dudes who win nothing in the HOF.

Would probably be hard to keep him out due to his points total.

It's amazing how much heat the guy gets. He's an all-time great. Selfish at times sure.

Player 1: 25pts (19.6at)6.6rbs 3.1assists 45%
Player 2: 25pts (19.5at) 5.3rbs 3.2assists 44.8%

But, player two had Shaq in his prime, Gasol, Bynum and Odom in there's. Player one had Chauncey Billups on the downswing and JR Smith.

Kobe didn't make the playoffs the year he lost Shaq and was as selfish as any player we have seen. You give Melo a few decent teammates and an alltime coach we are signing a different story. It's all about teammates. Kobe would have killed JR Smith. Look at Dwayne Wade when he had a broken down Shaq in Miami. Is there that big a difference between him and Kobe? The answer is no.

Jordan had Pippen, Rodman, Grant, Tony K. Give the guy a couple great players and he wins.

It's not even in question that Melo will be in the hall of fame, so it's not so much an opinion as a misinterpretation of reality.

I'm sure there were some ding dong Knicks fans who thought Ewing didn't belong in the Hall of Fame either. And then they wonder why Lebron and Durant would never sign here.

It's impossible to score a ton of points and not get into the HOF. Basketball reference has a HOF probability estimate for him of 95%, and that will get higher as he boosts his career points. (It's estimating how likely a player is to be voted in, not whether the player deserves it.) I don't believe Melo comes close to deserving it but he will definitely be in the HOF by the time he's retired.

I didn't say he wouldn't be.

But in my opinion, he shouldn't. Sorry if my standards are higher for who belongs.

I guess when we give kids a trophy for participation, that carries over.

Melo has been a semi-efficient chucker.

I'm sorry if I want players that are recognized as all time greats to be able to knock down game winning shots.

I don't value pounding the ball and forcing up ridiculous shots.

I want my HOF players to be the elite athletes who change the game, who impact the game.

Is Melo a good player? Has he been a great player? Arguably yes.

But one of the greatest in his class? Sorry, no.

Kobe? You short-changed him 1.5 assists per game (those 3+ team points a game make a big difference). His #s have also been deflated from these post-prime seasons. If Melo plays another 7 seasons, what do you think his per game stats will look like?! Then there's the whole issue of man-to-man defense, which is not measured great with most stats.

He WILL be in the HoF, so therefore he belongs. He will be first ballot. Opinions need to be somewhat realistic, otherwise they are just trolling.
