Keep him or trade him? Been dwelling on my mind for while wanted to here the fan universes opinion. He screwed up for half the season then really showed up and brought back his game changing flair. If he could keep it like that for the majority of the season then I would more than welcome to have him back. However do we risk him pulling his "shenanigans" again?

Perfect partner would be Memphis. I would take Prince for JR Smith. Prince only has 1 more year left in his contract.

CULTURE CHANGE
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I think CHA or BKN would be in play. Maybe MIA?

After JR straightened up last season, he became a vital part of the team. Let's see how he fits in with the new regime. If he reverts to form, then we can move him. Right now he's the best player on the team.

If he doesn't revert back to being productive JR, then will we ever be able to move him? (not rhetorical; I'm actually wondering myself).

Let's hope Phil can start his Jedi mind training program early. Seriously, he wants to be a starter. He wants to show that HE can be an alpha dog. If he plays up to his potential, and doesn't step on his own dick, this could be his time to shine. He's got all the talent in the world. Let's let him play his hand.

Yeah, I think that's the most frustrating part about JR. He had the potential to be a HOF type talent with his skillset and athleticism but lacked the discipline, intelligence and maturity to get there. He's basically a Ferrari with a Yugo-car engine.

I never saw such a group of guys so ready to throw a player under the bus. He came back last year. Now I'm not saying all are ready to get rid of him. Now some of you are calling LeBron a weak person mentally which is crazy. I'm sure glad some of you weren't decision makers for the Knicks you would be trying to get rid the whole team every season.

Karl couldn't save him. Throw him out. He's had his chances. If we can get an expiring for him I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't call him vital, but good JR could make huge difference for a small price tag through 2016.

I think last year's disappointment, plus Phil's arrival are going to give JR the incentive to finally get his **** together.

But fool us two or three more times JR... and you're outta here!

Then why don't you try finding a new team to root for if you feel that way. Get rid of the heartburn.

Papabear Says

Yes I am. And yes I did not like what he did during the play offs and then coming back and messing up but I think the man has talent and if Phil didn't think so JR would already be gone. JR Smith is in Phil Jacksons plans with this team. And Phil will pay the max to keep Melo if he has to.

Phil cannot get rid of JR since nobody wants him.

Of course he has all world talent but he also has zero brains

JR has brains. If he had zero brains he wouldn't be in the NBA. Now I will tell you guys with zero brains. Zero brains comes after you leave the game like a talent like Spreewell. Or wait a second !!What about all those NBA player knocking up all those girls and have to pay child support for 5 kids or more. That d!ck will get you in trouble. Thats why they have no brains and will be broke 5 years after they retire. Let's see what Phil Jackson can do with JR,
