C-

The year they had, record wise, and the composition of the roster, meant that they needed to make the ECF for the year to be a success.

If this were a young team and we had more than Shumpert, then I could give a higher grade because they would have upside.

As it stands now, we have very little upside, very little room for improvement and a strong likelihood that next year's record will be worse, and before long, this will be Allan Houston & Don Chaney and 37 wins all over again.

That was my reasoning too, although I gave them more credit for a good regular season. C+

Regular season: A. They exceeded my expectations with with thir constant injuries. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Playoffs: C. The Pacers are a better team than the Knicks even though we should have and could have done a lot better. I have lost all faith in JR Smith and he was warming up to me quickly. We should have handled the Celtics a lot better too.

Overall: B

Same here but I gave them a C. They need to blow it up. We are not going anywhere next year with this same formula.

If we're grading on meeting/surpassing expectations, A-.

If we're grading on actual achievement, C+.

SO some are grading this year based on what they think next year will be?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Yep, I agree- I loved the regular season and they did a lot better than I thought, especially with all the injuries. That's an 'A'.

Playoffs were awful. I didn't even enjoy them- not even bothered about defeating the hated celtics (I thought I'd be way happier than I am). The wheels fell off with that JR elbow- we never really recovered our confidence once the Celtics won those 2 games.

Remember when we though JR Feast/Famine had finally turned the corner (again!), only it turned out that that final stretch of the season was simply JR Feast, and the playoff would herald JR Famine.

If you would give a certain grade but based on your perceive expectation on the teams upside going forward leads you to give another grade then you are not grading the year. So if the knicks get better as a team in the off season and change your perception of their upside going forward do you go back and give a better grade?

It just sounded like that was the case if it not its cool if it is it cool. I was just wondering.

It made it sound like a teacher saying you did a pretty good job on this paper but because I don't think you are going to do well going forward I am going to give you a lower grade.

The comments might have been based on what the upside of *this* roster is - e.g., was this post-season something this roster can build on as players move into their primes (like it was for Houston)? Obviously not. If the Knicks get new players with more upside over the off-season, that would be great but it shouldn't change the grade that this roster gets for this post-season. It's not like this post-season was something the new players would be building on. We can only judge this post-season based on the current roster.

They exceeded my regular season total of 52 wins (with AMare), 48 without and to me it don't matter what round they bounced out if its the first or second.

JR exceeded my expectation of him during the regular season and sad to say he lived up to his mentally soft character in the playoffs.

Perhaps the only enhanced expectation was thru the wins against Miami which make you think it could be possible.

I gave them a B+ because of the regular season. Amre was mostly a non factor all season long.

I gave them a B- . Got through the season with a great record while dealing with a ton of injuries. Surpassed expectations. Had some really great and fun wins in the regular season. Beat the C's in a playoff series. I'm just really disappointed in the coaching and effort in the 2nd round. i think we had the better team on paper than Indiana. But Indiana was the far better team on the court as well as better coached.

Woodson did a good job this year, but went away from his accountability mantra during the regular season lull and in the playoffs.

Grunwald was good. In hindsight, the Camby move was a disaster. Kidd served his purpose early on but was terrible for most of the second half and in the playoffs. But Copeland, KMart, Prigioni and Felton were great moves. Felton and JR (although I hate JR and hope he walks) were among the 2 best contracts in the entire league this season.

I think a B would have been fair also, but we should have and could have beaten Indiana. Very very hard to swallow.

A for the reg season. Can't really complain there.
C for the playoffs. They took too long to put Boston away and got out worked against Indy, but they did get to the second round, so overall I gave them a B+. I'm probably being a bit too generous.

B- overall and most of that was due to the regular season. The playoffs brought the score down.

Given the talent this team had they did well in the regular season, but I really didn't like the swoon in the middle of the year. I think there was more potential to squeeze out of this team both in the regular season and in the playoffs. Don't like how this team was allowed to forget who they are and not play the style of ball that best fit the pieces. If anything they should've doubled down on those strengths and gotten better in the playoffs. I look at GS, SA, Mem and even Indy and they all played to their strengths and got even better in the playoffs. They did more of what made them good in the regular season once the playoffs started. You saw even more Team BB Execution, not less!!!

What? no F minus?

A across all classes. This season gave you things you've never had in most of your lifetimes, Knick fans.
Enjoy the memories, ignore the rest of these now bland playoffs, and wait for summer league.

an F means "Failure", and this season is a failure because we did not reach the stated goal of playing in the ECF,

i said all along, if you don't make ECF, this season is a bust, and they did not do so,
