I saw most of the game but I am not sure if anyone was held accountable last night.

I guess that's a start, though Woodson's biggest selling point was that he is going to hold guys accountable because he is also held accountable. So we already know that he is held accountable.

"I’m big on details. I struggle with players that don’t play hard. That’s one thing that I’ve got to hold these guys accountable to do, is to play hard every night that they step on the floor.” Mike Woodson

That worries me because, to be honest, I don't know what IS like him and what IS NOT like him.

We're dealing with a small sample, a sample which was artificially bolstered in the wake of D'Antoni's resignation because teams usually play hard after a coaching change, regardless of who has taken over the reigns.

We'll see in the Pistons game if anyone was really held accountable behind the scenes. I guess this poll is a little premature. It might not be time to hold guys accountable publicly, but I sure hope they are held accountable in the locker room.

A small sample of 36 games where his guys constantly echo his mantra and up until last night hadn't lost back to back games.

For Jeremy Lin, a sample of 30-some games was not enough to warrant his relatively modest contract but for Mike Woodson 36 games is enough to solidify his place among the NBA's coaching greats.

I am not denying that the mantra is echoed, but after last night's 31-point beating I wonder if the team is genuinely interested in putting the mantra to practice.

It's one thing to lose, it's another thing to crash and burn.

Its tough to blame fans for being a little nervous. Knick Fans have witnessed this over and over again for 12 years. this team make a great run every year for a few weeks and gives fans hope and then they kind of take it away from us. I hope this year is different.

His mantra? It's standard boilerplate. And we hadn't lost back to back games in the regular season, we lost 3 in a row and 4 of 5 in the playoffs.

Actually this team gets off to horrendous starts and then has to climb out of it and settle for the 7-8th seed. Completely different

Im talking about 6 or 7 games guns not the whole season. For example linsanity and the 8 game winning streak we had in 2010

Rasheed didn't even practice until he got in shape. I'm assuming Camby is going through the same thing. Won't play until conditionally resdy or he is injured

Except Lin came to the Knicks as an undrafted 2nd year player that had been waived by two teams already that season. Woodson was part of a championship staff in Detroit, and was a head coach in Atlanta for 6 years. Also, Lin was let go because of his poison pill contract not the number of games he played.

Woody wasn't going to go his entire Knicks career without losing back to back games. We played liked crap against Houston, no doubt about it. They didn't play well against Dallas but if not for a few BS calls we could have pulled it out. Teams throw up stinkers throughout the season, Houston happened to be one of those stinker games. We're still 8-3 and will hopefully get back on track against the Pistons this afternoon.

What would you say if they lose today? At home, against a terrible team.

All teams go through losses, but how they handle them is the difference maker.

The Knicks really are not a good road team, they have struggled in every single game they played....but talent has kept them above .500

They don't bring the home intensity with them on the plane.

Philly ran off early, before the Knicks woke up.

Orlando was up as well, til the Knicks woke up.

SA too....same story....Knicks woke up.

Memphis styled on them in the second half, Knicks woke up too late to win.

Dallas took it to them the entire game....Knicks woke up in vain.

Houston blew them out the building....no wake up there.

ironically the losses have been against WC teams, so that's understandable, but those count too.

Overall the Knicks are above .500 on the road and dominant at home, they keep that up, they will be fines.

There's a difference between holding players accountable and just throwing them under a bus. I expect Woody is the kind of coach who does it all behind closed doors, as it should be done especially with the NY media. Much prefer that way than the D'Antoni way which seemed to be all about insulting and alienating players via a quip to the media. See the Laker thread to see D'Antoni is already doing it to Gasol.

No one sees the authentic interaction between coach and player. Practice, and meetings, is where the work is done.

The games are for show.
