2nd round exit at best. We need to be able to stop SOMEONE in the backcourt if we want to win. If we trade Shump for Nash we won't be able to stop anyone. Does everyone remember the Toronto game where Calderon lit us up? That's going to be every game if we make this trade.

We don't have Nash yet but if that was our core and we were healthy I say ECF Champs. Nash hasn't had that much talent around him since the Macs/Amare PHX years. It will reignite Stat, he will help Melo find his spots, and Tyson will be Tyson. We would just need a SG who can defend.

You can also use Stat as a 6th man and run a PHX style offense when Melo is not on the floor - keeping the scoring up while melo rests. Is it a perfect plan? No, and it most likely won't work out - but I see a lot of promise in it. Nash is better than Lin right now so why would it be bad? Because we are potentially giving up Shump? I think you have to make that trade.

I voted 1st round exit as a reverse jinx, as my predictions are always wrong. I don't like trading Shump at all- come on, we know our luck, vets always seem to get injured or rapidly decline when we trade for them. Nash is a greatly conditioned athlete but he's not Benjamin Button- age is going to catch up with him really soon.

The old reverse jinx trick, I like it..., But u know as soon as Nash puts on a Knick uni he will be done for the year....

I did as well.

Obviously it's if everything goes right, players are motivated, Woodson brings more variety to his game plan (which I think we can rely on Nash for), and roleplayers executing when called upon. Never hurts to have another leader on the team.

I also believe the addition of Nash gives us a much needed boost in the hunt for ring chasing FA's.

Forever optimistic, even if it's blind optimism.

One thing seems certain...this team will look drastically different after
Tyson/Melo/Amare. We'll hear the same excuses about taking time to gel, playing together, etc.
Offense might be a tick better; defense definitely got worse.
Overall, the proposed Nash trade seems to be a lateral move at best to me.
There's no one to stop guys like Rondo from penetrating and dishing off.

I can't say a Title win, but we could get to the finals IMO. I can't believe how much people underestimate Nash. Dude is still a great PG! The real problem this team had wasn't defense, even after Shump went down! It was the inefficiency of the offense!!! Nash totally fixes that. Suddenly your offense is a top offense and maybe you lose a little D but not enough to offset the gains offensively.

Just look at the garbage Nash had last year and he almost got in the playoffs.
