Not until it is obvious that he is not willing to play a role in the teams concept thats based on MDA & Lin.

That said, I think he will try to adjust and might become a better player. I dont like him that much as a person, but he has not appeared to be a nutcase. He might have a hard time playing off the ball, but he will try to learn it. Even if he has a hard time adjusting, I would not trade him this season at all (lets have one season without a big roster overhaul!) A Melo that is loving to play this system would be huge, even if it takes some time for him to get comfy!

On the other hand: If he is not willing to be a roleplayer, gets pissed about not having enough touches and so on, get him out before its to late (No Melobury!)

He doesn't have to be a role player. He is still the primary option on offense. He needs to do what Kobe/Lebron did and understand that he has to make other players successful on offense before he tries to get his own. When your reputation says you can get your offense anytime it's up to you to make those that can't better. Melo also needs to learn that he is not always the best option for taking the shot - that depends on what the defense is giving you possession by possession. If he can figure this out and pass out of triple teams we will be good.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

As soon as you can get something of high value for him. Same applies to Amare if he doesn't show that he has something left soon.

You trade him when someone makes you an offer you can't refuse and you have a strong GM who has a grand design.

We have GM by committee and the lead GM contract is up in a few months. And our coach can leave at seasons end.

Melo is not going anywhere.

That's exactly it. Trading him for just a new flavor of the month is pointless.

That's just silly. How can you trade someone in a dishwasher?

Bonn and Nalod, I'm all about trading him to get him off the team rather than trading him to boost the current squad. If we can deal him for some strong pieces, that's great. But the biggest gain is made by subtracting him.

The only vaccum is in Dolan'S head.

Watch him mess this out by trading Lin for Danny Granger.

I hope Melo doesn't get allergies, because the amount of times you've put him in a vacuum...

Why trade Melo? As far as you know, Melo will come back and blend perfectly with Lin. Melo is one of the best clutch scoters in the league. We need Melo and you will see that as the season wears on and Lin hits the wall, which history says will happen.

Having Melo gives us an advantage in going up against the Heat. Lebron can't dominate Melo like he does over guys. Melo also helps against other top players. He effectively cancels out that advantage a star player gives his team. All we need is for this group to get a chance to practice and play together and get a groove and real chemistry. It all makes much more sense with a real PG.

A resounding 43% of Knicks fans would trade the guy before he ever plays another game for this team. That's serious, guys.

I'm trying to keep my head up.

I hear that, nixluva.

But will he wave Lin off? That's really the crux of the crucible.
