That's it.

Put yourself on the line.

We all know he's going to play at some point. Vote now, this thread is sure to be bumped one way or the other.

Only two options - yes or no. Post any defense/explanation of your opinion below.

Put your name on it.

Yes - Baron is the missing piece to the offense, will make life easier on Amar'e, Melo and Tyson. He will turn around the season.

No - Baron cannot be a savior at this point.

I vote yes. I think he fixes the offense by:

A) getting Melo, Amar'e and Tyson (and Landry) easy baskets
B) adding an outside shooter
C) adding another scorer
D) adding someone who can penetrate the paint.

and I believe his contributions on the offense will make life much easier on the defense.

This isn't asking Baron to be a savior. It's asking him to be a leader (Which he's done in CHA, GSW, LAC and CLE) and asking him to run the offense. It's not asking him to be the player he was in 2007. It's asking him to be the play he was in 2011 with Cleveland (18ppg 8apg, great leadership and passing).

I say yes because this team has been playing so poorly the only way they can go is up. They are scraping the bottom right now. Turning it around at this point is making the playoffs, things are so bad.

inst there a big IF -- IF he is healthy. i said no, cuz im not sure he is gonna be well enough in a short season. will they make him drop 30+ mins a game right away? will he have to play 15-20 for a bit to get in game shape? can he take some bumps, and survive 3 games in 3 nights or have to miss a few games?

I think Baron running the point is going to be huge. Can't wait.

I say yes - only because it's sooo clear that proven veteran leadership in the backcourt positions is extremely lacking. I'd certainly argue that we probably would have been a much better team had we kept Anthony Carter instead of grabbing Bibby!

(I can't explain what's happened to Bibby over the last couple of years - he was a key acquisition by the Hawks and they dumped him prior to him landing with the Knicks)

The Knicks are going through a rough stretch with nagging injuries rearing their heads, so they probably look worse than what they're capable of. Baron Davis will bring veteran guard play and teach the Knicks guards how to win. (NONE of our young guards came from big winning college programs, at least not the years they came out - so while they may have a lot of the tangible skills, they don't have the nuances of what it's like to win consistently)

I'm sorry, but if Melo and Stat can't turn this around, its just stupid to expect a player who is in the twilight of his career to turn things around.

That's just common sense.

That's like asking Udonis Haslem to turn things around for Miami during a 5 game skid.

Can't wait to see him in a Knicks uni running the show. We'll get to see at least 4 less Douglas TOs per game.

It depends what turn around really means. When he comes back I do believe the Bucks and Suns will be no match for us. Can we hang with Miami? No.

I worry about his minutes. D'Antoni tends to rely heavily on guys and wears them down. He is going to need to be careful with Baron.

i guess i mean, i think they'd be 10-6 right now instead of 6-10. at least.

Too much weight on his ailing back. If its him and another solid PG, I could see us turning this season around. But Baron alone? Nope

We don't need a point guard, we need a witch doctor.

i think he can be good but 2-3 players will have to step up to hit the wide open shot.
With the bad back he will still be our 2nd best only post player after Melo.
We never watched Baron go downhill yet but his words saying he didn't think he would be able to play again, make it sound bad.
He actually looked like he was still pretty good last year, especially against us.
