Serious question. I know it's grimey to trade Amare after this year but as a basketball move do you do it.

BTW, I voted yes just for age and defensive reasons.

Wow that people say yes to this. A'mare signed with us when we were nothing, put us on his back and carried us into the playoffs, had people chanting MVP mid season. And you would just straight up trade him for a guy who has never said he wanted to be here, who may not be a better player. This board sometimes shows me why fans are just always Grass is Greener and never appreciating how good they got it. No wonder Patrick Ewing was disgusted by this fan base at times in his career.

Nobody's going to disagree that it's a highly disrespectful and unrealistic move and won't happen, but trading Amar'e for Howard (assuming Howard extends with NY, of course) would mitigate Amare's injury risk, bring in a player who's the same age as Carmelo Anthony to extend the window of the team being good. There's no reason not to do it from a pure baskeball standpoint.

This has nothing to do with Patrick Ewing, who had every right to be disgusted with fans and the media.

If you can upgrade talent you do it. Dwight Howard is the best big man in the game, a perrenial DPOY and MVP candidate, if you can do it you do it. This is the definition of a no brainer. Is it cld blooded and calculating yes.

Orlando does not do this trade, Amare & D Howard are not equals. It would have to be Amare + pick and/or Fields, DDouglas.

I'm on the Amare bandwagon til the wheels fall off this bitch.
Everyone I knew was busy jumping on Miami's bandwagon, or
already on with the C's or Lakers. Every douche with a
press credential couldn't wait to take a shot at the Knicks
or avoid giving credit after the hot streak.

Amare was a leader to our squad. Barking his distain for losing
and willing us to a number of wins. I have never seen that ability
to lead from Melo or Howard, as great as they are.

Amare's a great player but I don't think anyone who's not a Knicks fan could even take the question seriously.

We traded Felton after 50 games. That is even grimier.

No, Felton is not Amare I understand.

Lets not be too carried away, Amare and Knicks were a marriage of convienence. He wanted a 5 year max deal and we had one to give. He stays in PHX if they did that.

No hate, just being real here.

Problem is Amare's contract is not guaranteed if his knees crap out. What is Orlando to do if that happens?

Hate to be the buzz kill here, but that shoyt ain't gonna happen.

I do it. Orlando won't.

I can imagine a few teams would give up ALOT to get Amare on their team. Think LA wouldnt trade Gasol or Bynum for Amare?

I would agree with this if he actually put the effort in on defense insted of barking his disdain. Talk is cheap, I want effort on both ends from whoever is the top 2-3 players on the team. I suggested this trade long ago. But no I wouldn't do the trade, for all his faults Amare has shown he wants to be a Knick and he definitely has what it takes to handle the pressure. Dude has grown on me.
I miss Gallo.

I think LA Would trade Gasol AND Bynum for Amare, if we could come up with a decent center prospect to send back to them.

Please stop this stuff with this stuff about Amare. The guy said himself that he would have re-signed with Phoenix had they given him the 5 year contract at the max instead of 3 years. In fact, we were the only team willing to go 5 years. This is why he signed with us in the end and not because he was on some kind of mission to save us. I am sure playing for New York and resurrecting this franchise played a part in it but money talks in the end.

I would do this trade tomorrow.

I wouldn't do the trade. While I agree that Amar'e came to NY because of cash, he still came, and wanted to come. Dwight has said doesn't like NY and doesn't want to come. This stage isn't for everyone. Amar'e has excelled here. That counts in my book and so does Amar'e and Melo sincerely wanting to play together. Dwight will get paid and can go pretty much wherever he wants because he doesn't carry the same injury risk. He'll probably end up in LA when the Lakers base their package around Bynum and other goodies

When did he say that? On TNT last night, they mentioned that there are four teams he supposedly is interested in if he doesn't stay in Orlando, and one of them was the Knicks.

Seriously guys, you think LA would take Amare with 80 mil on his contract and no insurance on the knees AND give up Gasol and Bynum?

A 2 time championship core front line?

We can debate the talent level but the MONEY aspect is huge. I know fans don't like the contract aspect but its big.

amare or bynum, yes you can say that Amare is a risk but he played 80 games this year.. bynum is injury prone..Plud your gonna have to Sign bynum to a huge dead in order to make salaries match not sure magic would want that.

Same here. Amare is a Knick. He has endeared himself to the fans with what he has done this year. There will be riots if he is traded after 1 year.

I miss Gallo too.

Why would those be Orlando's only two options?
