"As underclassmen weigh the consequences of leaving college early, some college coaches, NBA front-office members and agents do not seem exactly sure how the possible lockout will ultimately affect the draft class."

(edited)

"“I think it will have an effect, and it should have one,” agent Mark Bartelstein said, noting the consequence of leaving early and being sidelined by a lockout. “That’s a disastrous thing for a player in the development stage of his career. It is an issue, and something I’ve raised with coaches and families, and that’s part of the equation, I think.”"

Should these kids stay in school and continue to play and grow with certainty...or declare and take the risk of a lock out?

I'm suprised that more players aren't taking the Brandon Jennings route.

Jennings had no choice. He was going to go to Arizona but could score high enough.

Jennings took the money. He's was going to be 1 and done anyway and scores had nothing to do with it. $1.65 million guaranteed plus a $2 million endorsement deal. Did you watch the Real Sports segment on HBO?

Depending on what kind of eligiblity they have, or the prospects of playing overseas, it would be foolish to come out on a hope. There are enough "almost prospects" littering the D League. And that's another thing; won't the D League be shut down too.

Interesting idea...seems to make sense.

That money had nothing to do with it. He could have made that in the NBA but he couldn't get in the NBA and he couldn't get into college because his SAT scores weren't high enough. Anubis is right, the kid didn't have a choice. It was either Europe or sit at home and do nothing for a year but work out and play rec. basketball.

Which is hilarious, because for an athlete to get into college his SAT scores only have to be barely above retard level, and he couldn't even get that high. And he is this leader many people covet for our team, and lament our failure to draft him.

Do they stay or go? I say you stay in college hoops another year until this is all straightened out.

Let's go team!

this will hurt us big time. since we're going to be picking towards the later part of the draft, alot of young players may opt to stay in school which means it's going to push alot of the 3-4yr kids higher in the draft which would have been perfect for us to select. talent is going to be pretty minimal come june.

Using the word "Retard" is the same as using the "N word" or calling someone a "fag." It is a derogatory word aimed at people with mental disabilities. The only difference between that word and the N word is that so many people use it that they tend to think it's acceptable but it's not. Just because it's instinctual for people to blurt it out doesn't mean it's not as offensive. If anything, it's probably more cowardly to say then the N word because generally, a person with a mental disability can't defend themselves like anyone else.

It's not reality, but if you think it is, then I simply feel bad for you.
