Going to have to go with Derrick Rose because he is carrying the team with the best record.

I say Dwight Howard. I know Rose is the front runner, and Rose is top 10 and 2 statistical categories (points and assists). And he makes some super sick plays and hes exciting to watch.

Dwight Howard is top 10 in:
Points per game #9
Blocks per game #3
Rebounds per game #2
Field Goal Percentage #3 60%
Free Throw Attempts #1

Throw out the numbers. Dwight Howard's impact on both ends on the court is greater than any other play in the league, he's defensive player of the year who is also top 10 in scoring, and scores at a rate of 60%. I don't know how anyone makes an argument that can explain why someone else is more deserving.

Rose is #7 in scoring. Howard is #9 in scoring and is almost certainly the defensive player of the year. IMO, its no contest.

The numbers are off the charts, no doubt. But I'm not a fan of giving the most prestigious individual award to a player who is on the 8th best team.

Its between Rose and Bryant imo, giving the slight edge to Rose.

Lebron James and the Heat haven't exactly been great this season and in many ways are having a worse season than any of the last several years he spent in Cleveland; so he's out.

You can pretty much say the same thing regarding Kobe; for most of the season Kobe and LA have looked worse than either of the last two years.

Kevin Durant hasn't made the leap that many expected after the Summer games and most of the team improvement from last year is probably more due to Westbrook's improvements then Durant.

Dwight is the single best defensive player in the league and also the hands-down best center. But, his team is only fourth in the East and probably isn't even top 10 in the league; they'd probably get lucky to get out of the second round. I wouldn't be shocked to see him win but there's a better choice.

Rose has carried the Bulls to the best record in the NBA. He's done it while one of Boozer or Noah has missed almost every game this season. He's improved from a bad defender the last two years to above average this year, and offensively he's a better shooter and passer. Really, he has to be MVP.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I have to agree with Killa, for similar reasons. Dwight Howard is also a no brainer for me. He's just a beast. Without Dwight, the Magic win 25 games. Without Derrick Rose, I think the Bulls are still an okay team that still has a shot at the playoffs.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

People don't seem to appreciate how bad the Magic rosters outside of Dwight have been all these years. He's had worse support than KG had in Minn!

Dwight Howard is top 10 in:
Points per game #9 (Should be, there's no good centers in the league)
Blocks per game #3 (Impressive)
Rebounds per game #2 (Can argue but won')
Field Goal Percentage #3 60% (Should be, he leads the league in dunks)
Free Throw Attempts #1 (Cause he sucks from the line and teams get into Hack a Shaq I mean Hack a Dwight mode.)

D Rose is the MVP.

Yeah the Magic roster has been terrible, especially when Hedo and Lewis helped whoop the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Hedo had a really good series. So did Jerome James. Hedo and Lewis are still bottom 10 starters in the league.

That was two years ago. Hedo's been traded twice since then and Lewis was suspended for steroids and isn't even on the team anymore.

When they were on the sqaud they were both doing their thing and the post was made in response to the Magic's roster being terrible for years. It's not like Howard hasn't played with some talent. Put J Rich and Nelson on the Knicks right now and tell me how bad the Knicks would be.

Kevin Durant gets my vote. If he played in any of the other candidates' markets, he'd be running away with the award. He carries the offense and contributes in other ways too

Nelson's not a bad player. It's a sign of a very weak supporting cast when he's your BEST teammate though. J Rich has played like a 7th or 8th man. Since most teams have about an 8 or 9 man rotation, of course he could still help us. It's the sign of a weak supporting cast when someone producing at his level is the BEST scoring option you have to pass the ball to.

D Rose is very good, but you know, Kobe is so good too. He is balling top notch in late years of his NBA careerse.
