Couple of things to clean up: Billups buyout is $3.7M.
Also, I don't think that Billups will be traded fro Deron - duh, right? New Jersey just won't.
And if CP3 is going to be moved, it won't be for a straight up Billups trade, right? I mean, why would New Orleans do that. They may want to dump bad contracts on the Knicks, but how would NY match bad contracts coming in?

I guess it's early in the poll, but for Brooks and Will it would be a go. Billups would just get on with his front office career and we'd have two significant pieces. We'd still need help on the front line, but it's a start.

i've read the Knicks are considering buying Billups out & extending him to a multiyear deal at lesser dollars per year to free up cap space this summer so they can pursue a veteran C.

same. Dalembert? Who after that? Foster. Kmart at vet min? Those 3 guys would be very nice.
Depending on what Billups re-signs for and what cap is, they still may be able to pursue Nene. One can hope.

it'll probably depend on how Chauncey finishes out the season... seems like he's willing to do a deal he has stated publically he hopes to be here for the longterm... whether both sides will agree on his annual dollar figure remains to be seen... the better he plays the more expensive it's gonna be for the Knicks to hold onto him... the worse he plays the less likely the Knicks will want to extend him... sort of a catch 22... but if we can come out of this offseason with 2 out of Dalembert, Jordan, Kmart, Foster or Reggie Evans i think we'll be in great shape for next season... whoever we target i hope it's someone who plays with some attitude & a little nastiness to his game, no more soft ass players.

Billups to a multi-year deal?!? How many years are we talking about? And I think anything like that is on hold until they see how things pan out the rest of season and in the playoffs. Right now I can't see the Knicks paying Billups after the buyout. If he can back to form though he might be a good grab on the cheap (6-8 per) for two with a team option for a third. But his role would transition from starting to bench at some point and then maybe a coaching job IF he wanted to stay in NY (which I doubt).

right i don't see anything happening until they see how things pan out in the playoffs... if Billups plays well i can see us extending him to a 3 year deal at lesser dollars, but it'll depend on how much he's willing to play ball with accepting a lower money annual value... if he plays great & helps the Knicks to win the 1st round it's gonna be interesting to see how high the Knicks are willing to go.

I'm worried he doesn't really want to be here, despite what he might say.
Whether you can get Brooks & Chandler, I'd be looking to use Billups money to not only bring in some vets that can help, but as many draft picks as we could buy.

While there is obvious logic in that, outside of Gallo, how many picks has put any real time or effort into developing. If he's not going to let draft picks actually play, then what use are they to the team? Some solid veterans with only a few years on them of proven effectiveness can easily find a spot in his rotation, but he doesn't let the youngins get much floor time. If D'Antoni is the coach, you sign some vets. If you can get someone like Doc Rivers, then you go for the draft picks. It's all situational.

I say but him out and try to resign him in the cheap. If they can't than I'm a big supporter of going after Aaron Brooks hard. I always liked the kids game and think he would be a great fit. Fast, athletic and can shoot the 3 ball.
