Ten years of crap. An owner who is now dissing his fans by wanting to bring back a disliked former employee, and we will soon have another team in a borough!

Why the love?

Right there with you Marv - Bad-Body pencil neck McHale and Bird with the ice water
in his veins. Read once Bird played an entire game left handed ...and won.

I liked the Clyde era team. You had to respect the way they played but became a fan
when 'Chahlie' became a Knick. Was devastated when Ewing went down. Hated Jordan
but always respected his ability. Kind of like I feel about Kyle Singler these days(no I'm not
comparing these players but the emotion they stir up).

But TD ain' no Ward he will be far better. In the end whether here or somewhere else
people are going to find out just how far a some talent a lot of work and heaps of heart
and chutzpah will carry a man.

With me it's about wanting to see him succeed. He to me embodies the spirit of what
America should be... good living and working your arse off to be as good as you can at
what you do.

Had to choose early 70's, but I was a fan around 67/68, and rooted for the Knicks and the Nets. Also looked at the Cincinnati box scores on a regular basis because Connie Dierking, a guy who graduated from my HS (well before my time) and knew my father, was playing with the Big O, but I was strictly a NY fan- Jets (even some Giants), Mets, and Knicks.

When Ewing was drafted, I was 14. That's when I became a Knicks fan. I didn't follow NBA at all before that.
Been here ever since. Remembering what the Garden was like in the 90's when we played tough and didn't give anything away is what kept me here. I remember the place erupting and standing up and cheering and high-fiving all the time.

Lately, its been real tough to be there and there being no effort from the team and no love from the fans. Isiah really sucked the life out of this team. Going there 5-6 times a year and watching his teams get blown out by 30 pts by mid-way thru the second quarter can just get you numb. Hopefully we can get back to respectability this year. I know a lot of people go on about championship, but I'll take it one step at a time, and just be greatful for a winning team that can put up a respectable showing in the playoffs and not be an automatic 1st round out.

my dad was a fan and his dad before that so, I was kind of indoctrinated into the MSG fan base.

For the youngsters, it has ALWAYS been hard being a Knick fan. The term DieHard was born before most of the 80's babies were born. Coined by fans would no matter how bad the front office was there was no doubt we would never abandon them. We took and still take our DieHard, LongSuffering status as a badge of honor. A badge of honor because most fans lack the fortitude to stick in there till things get better.

Non DieHards are like LeBron.....quitters

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I knew NOTHING about pro basketball growing up. We played baseball, football and street hockey. Nobody in my neighborhood played BB or followed a team so I didnt care. I had one buddy who was a Laker fan so I knew who Kareem and Magic and Worthy were. I could have probably named 8 other pro players. Then for whatever reason I caught a Knick game playing on the TV at the local arcade. The Knicks were thugs and they playing (and beating) on Bird and McHale's Celtics. I was pretty much hooked ever since.

The pivotal year for me was the 93 season. It was an exciting run and that year I was diagnosed stage 2b Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Spent the next 9 months in chemo and radiation, dropped to 137 pounds (I'm 6'4) and spent a lot of time on the couch. Since I dont really like TV in general and was pretty banged up I watched every minute of every game and when they won the rewind. That Christmas the nurses at the Valerie center (where I was treated) begged me to go to the Christmas party. My reward for sitting on Santa's lap was courtside seats immediatly behind the Knicks bench. I could hear every word Riley said during the timouts. It was a real thrill and my first time at MSG.

After that year I was hooked and would never and could ever stray from the Knicks. Its orange and blue or nothing for this mick

Been a knick fan since '97. My brothers influenced me to follow them. We had a good chunk of pontell VHS' with knicks games. The best was the Miami heat series. And then the UK board has some good people, which kept me coming back each season with new enthusiasm..

Started really following the Knicks in the early to mid-80s..I'll never forget -- my parents were out on the town one night, babysitter downstairs with my little sister...Bored out of my mind, I went upstairs to watch TV in my parents' room -- turned on my first Knick game and they were God-awful -- Louie Orr, Pat Cummings..Man, they were terrible..Yet they had some decent players like Rory Sparrow, Trent Tucker and of course Bernard King..I don't know what it was, I don't even remember loving hoops before then but I was hooked instantly right there. That night. LOL!

Bingo. Ewing's arrival. Hazy memories of Bernard King (attended one of his b-ball clinics in the 80s which was fun), Rory Sparrow, Bill Cartwright before going to CHItown, etc. Was but a babe in the glory years of '70 and '72.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

The promise of Mcadoo, Webster and Haywood was so cool with a young Ray Williams.

Sonny Werblin was nuts!

Well, despite my username, the Knicks were the first team I loved, starting in the early 70's. However, my interest kinda lapsed in the late 70s when the team sucked (John Gianelli, need I say more) and I went through an anti-tv, pro-getting high (and playing ball) phase. Then, Bernard brought me back and I haven't wavered since.

I grew up in the 80-90s and everyone in my school hated the knicks, would make fun of how patrick looked, oak couldn't dunk, starks stucked as a sg and would get beat up by jordan (Jordan did it to everyone). I loved the see them(schoolmates) the next day in school when the knicks just beat their great team the night before. And I would remind them to never count my knicks out. The best feeling! then when they start playing that knicks defense with mason at the 3 . the knicks reminded me of the miami hurricanes of basketball head butting, table kicking, dunking on jordan and crew, drop a player on the floor for even thinking about going in the paint. We may have taken a lot of crap from other teams , but we used to give it right back. They never gave up and respected the GARDEN. I love my Knicks I ride with them no matter how much crap our owner does.
