Is it OK to use a TASER on a fan who runs on the court?

At the Phillies game last night, a 17yr old kid ran onto the field and was Tasered.
Were the police out of line?

I have never been tasered. I would assume it hurts less than be tackled by officers.

Most fans are just out there to get noticed. But I dont' think you can wait until a fan stabs a player before you do something excessive. Hopefully this will be a deterrent. Although I'm sure the kid will sue and win millions

i dunno if anyone saw, but last night another phils fan ran onto the field. i'm not sure how this one ended, but philly fans have and always will be *******s.

Go to the zoo and they say "don't feed the animals". Run on the court and players can defend themselves with any percieved threat. Think "Rudy" running into "Kermits" fist.

I think the line is drawn but Basketball is very different than baseball as the court is small and much smaller fan count that can go on it. Plus the attention gained is really small. Plus where you gonna run? End to end?

I think the best way is if a fan is running toward a player he gets tased. If your close enough to tase your close enough to determine if the fan is a threat. If so, tase his ass. Once confronted there is a choice, Cuff him if he submits or he gets tased.

You don't want to be killing people for running on the field.

basically who gives a F about some a@@hole who runs on the field? of course no one should get abused by the cops but really the world has better things to be concerned about than dickwads who run on the field.

The easiest way to avoid getting tased while running on the field is to avoid running on the field.

according to the regulations I know, tazing only applies to Philadelphia fans. Brass knuckles apply Red Sox and Boston fans. Actually, setting fire to anyone wearing pink Res Sox/patriots gear is allowed to be set on fire

I would have liked to have tasered Spike Lee for lighting a fire under Reggie Miller in the playoffs. From that day on the sight of Spike Lee has always irked me.
