He's still got some ball in him, trust. Elite players like that can fall out of bed and give you 20....as long as they got two legs. All about those knees of his, 'cause he's only 30

those knees are a huge issue tho... i'm very doubtful... i think he can still be a solid contributor much like McDyess & KMart were after they finally recovered, but he won't be anywhere near to the superstar he once was IMHO... i think he's going to be more McDyess & KMart than Amare to be honest.

no. the dude was soft and a bum to begin with. it's not in his mental makeup to comeback from such a detrimental surgery.

McGrady was successful partly because of his shooting touch- that should still be there.

But his ability to get to the basket with ease, probably gone.

And its more than just his knees. His back always seemed to give him problems.

Wait, this is why Walsh wants him, to create the perfect all back spasm team - McGrady & Gallo. Maybe we can add Nash too!

he's going to need more than just his shooting touch to play & be effective... Allan Houston could still knock down 10 straight 3 pointers in practice when he was trying to make a comeback w/the Knicks, but his lack of mobility was too much to overcome.

mcgrady can still be very useful to the knicks if he can get some of his game back. say what you want about the guy but he is a lethal shooter and spreads out a defense with his size at the position he plays. he will also become the fan favorite immediately if he is picked up (especially if the knicks lose nate by thursday). question will be does he have the motivation and determination to get back to some type of an elite level - i think their's a good chance he will since he's got one more contract left before he retires. all depends on how much the knee bothers him once he starts playing.

I am hoping for Grant Hill type recovery. Not a superstar but an important cog in the Knicks machine.

Tracy McGrady is an expiring contract. That's it.

Here is a great article from a friend of mine talking about McGrady: tscblogs.com

It actually captures what he was and currently is. He was some kind of super star. Its crazy to think its completely over considering what he has achieved in the NBA. Its a good read and follow the statistical numbers he put up.
