With some of our vets playing well & the team playing better basketball of late, what plan of action would you prefer this franchise take this season:

Keep the roster intact & let the expirings just come off the books at the end of the season. If we win, we win.

Make a cost effective move to improve the roster this year at the deadline even if we have to sacrifice some cap space longterm. I want playoffs now!

Keep pumping up our vets' trade value & use them to dump Fishlips & Curry's contracts at the deadline.

Just play the yoots & forget about trying to pump up trade values for the vets, it's not worth it.

I want the youths to play, but I wante Curry and Fishlips gone first. Fishlips should be tradeable if he keeps us the trend from the last 2-3 games so he deserves PT right now just based on his performance.

I think you go with any variation of the first three until the trade deadline in Feb. After that you increase the young guys playing time. I think Walsh will look at acquiring a very good player if he can before the deadline.

We must acquire someone good before the deadline if we want to keep any really good free agents interest in coming here next year.

Continue the plan that is in place? Yes, that sounds like a good idea.

*Try to trade the remaining 2011 contracts.
*Determine which remaining vets may be worth re-signing.
*Evaluate youth when you have the chance.
*Do NOT make any panic moves based on winning or losing a couple of games.

I want to win, but if you can trade Curry or Jeffries by packaging them with Nate, Lee, or Harrington, I think you have to do it. Our best chance of getting Lebron is if we can sign a Bosh or Amare to play with him. You then you Gallo, Chandler, DOuglas, and Hill to fill out the rest of the roster and go from there.

I want the yoots to play. I actually see Fishlips and Fat Eddy's contract as assetss for 2011. We have enough money now to sign a max FA or 2 right now. Eddy and Fishlips contract ending next year gives us another shot at another max FA next year.

Just play the yoots.

If I may play devil's advocate for a min, being the only one who voted #2, why not make a move to try and get into the playoffs this year? We're 2 games back and we do have some glaring weaknesses that could be shored up by teams looking to pull the trigger. And as long as we have that room for a max free agent so it looks like we're making progress to sign someone big who probably won't leave, isn't that the best thing we can do for the franchise? To see winning? I would trade Fishlips or Curry for someone with a bit more money on the contract if the player meshed well with philosophy.

Play as it is for now, stay involving Toney and wait for an injurie/slump/brawl of one of the bigs, then insert Hill and see what happens. The season is 82 games long. As nice it is to see those guys play like this at the moment, it wont stay that way! Thats what young players have to do, wait for their chance and be ready if it comes.
Toney was ready when Nate was cut from the team. He was the reason Mike D could stop getting a headache all the times Nate gone crazy again. Something similar will happen for Hill, too.

that was what my line of thinking was when i posted that as 1 of the options, but in the end i think for us to have any chance of attracting 1 of the elite FA's this summer is if we have the cap space to sign another elite FA to play alongside him... i think making the playoffs w/what we have right now & adding another midlevel dollars type player at the deadline this year in a deal is still not going to be enough to attract someone like Lebron, Wade or Bosh to wanna come here... just my take on it, & i could be wrong but all the talk i heard over the past couple years about Lebron, Wade & Bosh wanting to play together makes me lean towards the direction i'm leaning.

TMS: I sincerely believe that Currys trade value is higher on the bench than it is on the court bc he keeps hurting himself! As for Jefferies... he is already in the rotation has done a couple of nice things for us so I think we are pumping up his value already. SO therefore i think we should keep our roster the way it is. If we can find a way to trade the expirings for a cheap young player or pick along with other expirings then sure. Other than that, keep the expirings. Stay on course. See if you can make some kind of run with this roster. Definitely find a way to trade for a pick though.

I think our plan of action for the rest of the season should be to eat, drink & be merry. & get laid as often as possible.

The key to a quick turn around for this team would be the gift of moving Jared or Curry!!! It's so important that really nothing else should take precedence over that.

No. I said don't fool with the capspace. If you wanna trade the expirings, I either want a cheap young player or draft pick with an expiring contract. Whether that can happen is another story. Other than that, I'd rather ride with what we have. I do not want to mess up the capspace.

u confused me cuz u mentioned pumping up Fishlips' trade value & finding a way to trade the expirings for a cheap young player or pick along with other expirings... i assume u meant u wanted to try & play the vets & look to make some cost cutting moves at the trade deadline.

Try to trade any and everything for future 1st round draft picks. Its a fire sale. If said trades cannot be arranged then try the best to win games and make the team look fairly decent. NO TRADES WITHOUT PICKS BACK.
